UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRIEDRICH WILHELM KOFFLERlOF VIENNA, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
UNLOADING DEVICE FOR GOODS TRUCKS, WAGONS, &c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 671,599, dated April 9, 1901.
- Application filed October 8, 1900. Serial No. 32,441. (No model.)
To all w/wm it may concern..-
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH WILHELM KOFFLER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at 34 Penzingerstrasse, Vienna, XII/2, Austria-Hungary, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Unloading Apparatus for Goods-Trucks, &c., of which the following is a specification.
The present invention enables the rapid unloading of the material contained in goods trucks, wagons, &c.
In the annexed drawings, Figure 1 represent-s a longitudinal section of a wagon provided with the unloading device; Fig. 2, a partial plan view thereof; Fig.3, an end view, and Fig. 4 represents in section the unloading device in operation.
a is a second bottom lying upon the bottom I) of the truck, but having only about twothirds of the length of the said bottom I) and revolving upon same on a pivot 0, provided at the point of section of the longitudinal and latitudinal axes of the truck. In order to facilitate this revolving movement, circular tracks or grooves 01 d are provided in both bottoms, in which run balls c. The wagon is further provided with a wall in three parts fff which has no floor or bottom, and is held in shape and position by stifiening bars or rails 9. Over the floor a in the longitudinal axis of the wagon a powerful screw n is provided, which can be revolved, but not moved from its position. The said screw 1?. has bearing in the two narrow sides or ends of thewagon and passes through the two screw -nuts h h, the nut 71. being fixed to the wall f on the narrow side and the nut 71 to the stiffening-rail g of the two walls f f at the sides of the Wagon. The screw n is caused to revolve by means of the crank 'L and the gear-wheel K, which are fixed to the outside of the end wall of the truck and protected by a casing or frame of steel or the like Z. In order to retain the device in its normal position, clampsm are provided on the narrow sides.
In order to permit of emptying a loaded truck, wagon, or cart, the clamps m are unfastened, and the box or frame, composed of the bottom a and walls f f f, is revolved around pivot 0 into a position at right angles to the longitudinal side of the wagon. During this movement one-third of the material is already unloaded through the missing part of the floor a. To further unload, the crank 2' is revolved so that the wallsfff are moved forward. The goods are thus pushed forward and fall out through the said opening in the floor, as shown in Fig. 4..
I claim- An unloading device for goods trucks, wagons, and the like consisting of a bottom a lying upon the bottom I) of the truck but having approximately but two-thirds of the length of said truck and revolving around a pivotc placed in the center of the frame of the truck above which bottom a in the longitudinal axis of the truck a screw n is provided which can be revolved but not moved from its position said screw having bearing in the narrow sides or ends of the truck and caused to revolve by means of driving means arranged on the outside of the truck and passing through the two screw-nuts h and h to which screw the three walls f f f provided with stififeners are fixed the device being kept in its normal position by means of clamps m.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRIEDRICH \VIIIHELM KOFFLER.
