TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that'L N. WKABBOTT, oif'Centralimin the county of Mai'i on, and State of-Illinoi s, have invented anew and useful improvement in Inlmling-Fluid for the Cure of Consumption, Catarrh, Asthma, Bronchitis, and other Lung and Throat Diseases and Illo hereby declare that h following is a full and. clear description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art'to make and use the improved fluid. I
I I take of alcohol, dcodorizcll, three ounces; of sulphuric aether, washed, two ounces; of chloroform, two ounces; of: bromine, fifty dropstof hydrocyanic acid, ten drops; all measured by apot'hecaries weight an d mix in the order above named. p p 7 The mixture is to be kept stored in a glass bottle, with ground-glass st'opple, and is to be administered to the patient hyinhalation through any of the usuahmedicul apparatus employedfor a like purpose.
Many yearsot experience have proven to me'the benefits of treatmeut of lung and throat diseases lby the combination of bromine and hydrocyanic acid, andrfrom three-fourths to seven-eighths of patients using this compound for the cure of said diseases have met with permanent cure. Therefore the combination of those two ingredients is the principal feature of the invention. The other ingredients may be added to give bulk or quantity, and thereby facilitate the preparation and administration of the compound, although they are, in and of themselves, beneficial. Either bromine or hydrocyanic acid alone would behcneficial. Of course the proportions herein given, though deemed the best, may be changed for chemical equivalents, l
What I clai'ngisr a The combinatieu and use of the ingredients herein named, as and for the purpose set forth. I
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set my hand this -12tl1 dayof March, A. D. 1867, in presence of--.-
