Description

@geiten gisten -stmt @filtri JOSEPHV H. PELTUN, OF CLEVELAND, TENNESSEE.
Letters Patent No. 66,623, dated July 9, 1867. i
MPEOVEMEET 1E` MECHANICAL MOVEMENT. y
TO ALL IWHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
, Beit known that I, JOSEPH H. PELTON, of Cleveland, in the county of Bradley, and State of Tennessee, have invented :L new and useful MechnnicalMovement; andI do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the seme, reference being'hafd to the accompanying drawings, which. are made a.` part `of this speeication. i
This.l invention relates to :tn arrangement of levers und trenfles which avail both hands and both feet of the operator for the propulsion of a. {xrank-shaft or other mechanical device. v
A is a. frame hearing a, horizontal shaft, B, having cranks GIID and ascored pulley, E, from which a. belt, F, passes to anotherscored pulley, G, whose shaft carries a fly-Wheel, H. I I are levers for the right and left hands respectively, :End J Jl are levers for theicorrcsponding feet, end which levers are connected hy pitmen iz" and jj with the aforesaid cranks C'and D. K :tre foot-rests .upon the leversJJ. L is a. seat for thc operator. l
In operation the hnnrl and fo0t-levers 0:1- the right are thrust forward, while those on the left hand are drawn back, and vice versa, an operation that brings every muscle of theoperator to bear on the work, and enables the foot-lever on one side to serve :is 4en abutment for the hand-lever on the other. side.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is l The arrangement of hand and footlevers I I', and J J', pitmen z'ijj, and doubly-cranked sha-ft lB, forthe purpose set forth.
In testimony of Which-invention I hereunto set my hund.
JOSEPH n. PELroN.
