TOY TROLLEY-CAR SYSTEM.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 661,926, dated November 13, 1900.
Application filed July 5, 1900. Serial No. 22,592. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. Aeon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shrub Oak, in the county of W'estchester and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Trolley-Oar Systems; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and eXact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to a toy trolley-car system, and the object is to simplify and improve the construction and to provide an inexpensive toy of this character for the education and amusement of both young and old.
To these ends the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the several elements of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings the same reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention.
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved trolley-car system as it appears in peration. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of one of the cars and a section of the track. Fig. 3 is a detail section of the same.
The numeral 4. denotes the endless track or rails, and it may be made in sections, so that its size may be increased or diminished at will to suit the conditions and circumstances under which it is set up.
5 denotes the standards or poles, which are provided with brackets or arms 6, to the ends of which are secured the arched shoes 7, which support the circular and endless toothed rack S.
9 denotes a top plate which covers the rack,
and it is formed. with an arched bracket 10, in which is mounted a cog or gear Wheel 12, the shaft of which is provided with a crankhandle 13 for operating the rack.
14 denotes the car or other body movable along the track 4, and 15 the trolley-pole, having a spring connection with the top of the car, and its upper end terminates in a hook 16, which engages one of a series of staples 17, depending from the rack.
The operation of the device is so simple as to require no further description, and while the accompanying drawings show my invention in the best form now known tome it is evident that various changes in the details may be made within the skill of a good mechanic Without departing from the principle of my invent-ion as set forth in the claim.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s-
In a toy of the class described, the combination with the circular or endless track, of a car or other body movable thereon, va trolley-pole having a spring connection with said car, the standards provided with arms and brackets supporting an endless casing and a circular rack therein, means for actuating said rack and of connecting the trolley-pole thereto, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES F. AGOR.
