' IMPROVEMENT IN. HINGES -FOR LAMP-BURNERS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:A s v Be it known that I, W'ILLIAM WEBB, of Waterbury, in the count-y of New Haven, and State ofConnecticut, Vhave invented'a new and improved Hinge; and I do hereby decl-.rre that the following is a full, clear', and exact deseriptionthereof, whiehwill enable thoseI .skilled in the nrt to make :1nd use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming port of this specification.

In fig. 3 is shown the plate or sheet of which the leaf B of the hinge is composed, this platel beingl lrst cnt out in the form shown, and then folded by its-two ends over and uponeach other at its centre line, forming :1t its folded edge the necessary tube shape to receive the pin or spindle a ofthe hinge. The plete shown in fig. 4 constitutes the other leaf C of the hinge when folded by its `ends over and upon each other, the portion I of" such plate, embraced between its shouldered ends J, forming the tlibe or sleeve for the hinge-pin, :1nd the projecting stop-piece or arm the restffor the chimney-holder when swung up so as to come to n bearing upon the same, the leaf C otthe hinge thus provided -with n projecting stop-piece being secured or xed to the upper edge of the lamp top, and the other leaf, r
B, to the under edge ot' the chimney-holder portion ofsuch top. By bending the projecting stoppiece of the hingeA either up or down, the extent to which the chimney-holder can be swung up from the lamp top may be .regulated at pleasure, as is obvious withoutany `further explanation.
