UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIC JAKOB CORZILIUS, OF PATERSON, NEW JERSEY.
INDICATING DEVICE FOR LQOMS FOR WEAVING DOUBLE-FILE FABRI CS.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent No. 658,242, dated September I8, 1900.
Application filed June 1, 1899. Renewed February 3, 1900. Serial No. 3,908. (No model.) i
To aZZ whom it mag concern:
Be it known that I, JAKoB CORZILIUS, a citizen of Germany, residing at Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, haveinvented certain new and usefuiImprovements in IndicatingDevices for Looms' the said pile-warp threads or yarn and enable the weaver to ascertainexactly what colors are being woven into the fabric.
The invention consists of certainfeatures of construction and combinations of parts to be hereinafter described and then claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved loom, partly in section; and Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation on line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A indicatesthe 1oom-frame, B the beams for the linen warps b, and O is the beam for the printed pile-warp O. The lay D and heddles E are operated in any usual or preferred manner.
Arranged under the guide-rolls O of the printed pile-Warp threads 0 or in any other convenient position, so as to be behind the,
same, is an indicating band or apron F, this band being preferably supported as shownthat is to say, it runs over a supporting-roll G, provided with small teeth for engaging the same and causing it to travel, said roll G being mounted in the frame A and arranged so that the printed pilewarp threads 0 are guided and passed over it. roll G there are preferably arranged upon the frame A two guide rolls or bars G G over which the indicating band or apron F is hung, so that it can be moved by hand into the desired position and so that a wide portion f is formed at a point between the rollers Parallel with the e The indicating tanner 5 m.. is- I caused to travel through the medium of the roll G, which is rotated by the action of a gear-wheel G or a'chain connecting theroll G and the roll 0 so that it travels at the same rate of speed as the said printed pilewarp.
Thepile warp threads bear the diiferent colors in the same relation as on the band, and the indicating bandor apron is caused to'have such relation to the colors of the said warp as that they will match and it can 'be ascertained at any time by looking at the portion f of the said indicating band or'apron if the warp is printed and beamed correctly or not. It is not possibleor feasiblefor the weaver to ascertain this by looking ;at the fabric as it is being Woven, and for this'purpose the said indicating band or apron is provided with the colors or figures which the pile-warp threads bear and are arranged so that'the colors of eachmatch at the point I I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is o l. In a pile-fabricloom, the combination, of an indicating band or apron having colors matching with the colors of the pile-warp threads, and means for imparting motion to said band or apron simultaneously and at the same rate of speed as the pile-warp threads, substantially as set forth. I
2. The combination, in a pile-fabric loom, of an indicating band or apron having colors matching with the colors of the printed pilewarp threads,a supporting-roller and a guideroller for said band or apron, and means for rotating said supporting-roller through the medium of said pile-warp threads, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
J AKOB OORZILIUS.
