To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IDA A. HAACK, a citizen of the United States, residing in' New York, borough of Bronx, State of NewiYork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Guard-Frames for Chil drens Beds, of which the following is a specification. V

This invention relates to an improved folding guard-frame for infants" beds or cribs, said frame being designed to inclose the bed or crib in such manner that the child is prevented from falling out of its bed and is also protected against annoyance byflies, mosquitos, 660., while the frame without the bed may be used as a guard for infants for play ing or walking or when learning to walk.

To this end the invention consists of a guard- -frame for childrens beds, comprising an upright rear section, end or head and foot sections hinged tosaid rear section, a sliding top section, and a detachable'front section, connected by hooks and eyes or other fastening devices with the end sections, said front section being provided, like the top section, with grooved ways for a sliding door, so that ready and convenient access is given to the childs bed whenever required. When not in use, the entire guard-frame can be folded up against the rear section and tied together with the front and top sections for conveniently storing away.

The frame A of the rear sec.- jtion is equal in length with the ordinary-sized childs bed or crib and provided with legs a, corresponding in length to those of the childs bed or crib. The opening formed by the oblong frame A of the rear section is closed by aslid-ing frame or door A, which is guided in rails aa and is covered with coarsely-meshed wire'gauz'e, as shown, when the device is only intended to be used as a guard-frame for preventing the child from falling out of the bed or crib, or with closely-meshed wire-gauze or mosquito-netting when it is intended to use the frame also as a protection against mosquitos To the ends of the ,rear frame A are applied, by suitable hinges 71., the end sections B B, which are equal in height with the rear section and correspond in width with the width of the ordinary-sized childs bedor crib. They are, like the rear section, composed of frames provided with legs I) and are covered with coarsely or finely meshed wiregauze or netting in the same manner as the door of the rear section, according to the purpose for which the guard-frame is to be used. The upper ends of the frames of the end sections B B have aflixed thereto guide-rails b I), made of wood or metal, said ways or rails forming the support for the top section D, which slides in the same and which is removed when the guard-frame. is to be folded up and is reinserted when it is to be placedin use around .the childs bed or crib. The said top section also consists of a frame covered with wire or other suitable netting.

5 To thefront part of the frames of the end sections B B is attached the front section 0 .0, which is provided with legs 0 and which is attached, by means of hooks (Z and studs (1 or other fastening means, to the end sections when it is placed in position thereon. The frame 0 of the front section is providedwith a sliding door or frame 0, that is guided in ways or rails e e at the outside of the frame of the front section, said door being covered with coarsely or finely meshed wire gauze or netting, according as to whether the device is to be used simply as a guard-frame or as a guard frame and mosquito net combined. The legs of the rear, end, and front sections are preferably provided with suitable casters for permitting the easy moving of the guard frame in positionor'moving itwith the "bed or cribin the same.
