To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BELONIEJANELLE, of
Manchester, county of I-Iillsborough, State of New Hampshire, have invented an Improvement in Filling-Supplying Mechanism for in shown is circularly movable, and it is intermittingly moved by thespring to bring the filling-carriers into the path of a transferrer, the spring being wound automatically after each transfer, the filling-carrier next to be removed being held by the force of the spring against a fixed stop, so that the transferrer forces the filling-carrier from the feeder against such stress of the spring. This subjects the filling-carriers to considerable strain and materially decreases their life, and the use of the spring necessitates considerable mechanism to operate it. In my efforts to simplify the construction of the filling-supplying mechanism and to overcome the stress of the spring against which the filling -carriers are transferred I have devised a gravity-actuated feeder normally held at rest with the filling-carrier next to be engaged by the transferrer in operative position, the feeder at the time of transfer being unlocked and free to accommodate itself to the movement of the transferrer.
Various novel features of my invention will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a transverse sectional view of a portion of a loom, taken inside the filling-supplying mechanism and illustrating one embodiment of my invention.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the filling-supplying mechanism; and-Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line a: m, Fig. 2, looking toward the left.
The loom-frame A, lay A slotted below one of the shuttle-boxes, as at 10, Fig. 3, the breast-beam A and bunter C the selfthreading shuttle S, the fillingsupplying mechanism consisting, essentia1ly,of a notched disk (1 to receive the heads of the filling-carriers b, and a second disk a to hold their tips or small ends, the disks being connected and mounted to rotate on aflfixed stud a, se cured to a stand of, and the transferrer f, mounted on a studf, may be and are substantially as in the patent referred to, the controlling mechanism being substantially the same as in United States Patent No. 568,455, dated September 29, 1896, the dog m being governed as'to its position by or through the rock-shaft d and intervening connections. The connected disks 0. a of the feeder aremonnted to rotate freely on the stud a, and a pointed-tooth star wheel or ratchet a is herein shown as located at the inner side of and to rotate with the disk a, the spaces between the teeth of the ratchet corresponding in number and radial arrangement to the holding devices for the fillingcarriers, the latter being arrangedcircnlarly relative to the axis of the feeder, asin the patents referred to. The transferrerf', having'the finger 21 to engage the tip of a filling-carrier, projects between the disks, and, viewing Fig. 3, it will be manifest that owing to this location the greatest number of fillingcarriers which can be placed in the feeder will not completely fill it, and the resultant or preponderant weight of the load carried by the feeder will be located eccentrically to and at that side of the center of gravity opposite the transferrer. Consequently this eccentricity of the load will, when the feeder is free to move, cause its rotation through the action of gravity in the direction of the arrow 30, Fig. 3, to bringonefilling-carrier after another into operative position in the path of the transferrer, the filling-carrier b being the one next to be transferred.

The stoppage of the feeder and the locking in position thereof are entirely independent of the filling-carriers, and the latter are not subjected to any strain or shock other than that due to engagement by the transferrer.
