UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ERNEST F. PFLUEGER, OEAKRON, OHIO.
SPOON-BAIT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 648,360, dated April 24, 1900. Application filed July 22, 1899. Elerlal No. 724,857. CNo model.)
1 To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ERNEST F. PFLUEGER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Akron, in the county of Summit and'State of Ohio, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Spoon-Baits; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and
exact'description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains .to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawdetail. l
and useful improvements in devices for attaching trolling-spoons or other bait to a bait-. carrying device, and is applicable to various.
This invention has relation to certain new devices of the kind wherein spinners are attached to a wire, gimp, gut, or similar carrying device.
The object of the invention is to provide an attachment device of this'character which is" simple and inexpensive in construction, which is strong and eflicient in operation, and which permits the spoon or spinner to revolve freely on its carrying device. I V
With this object in view the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, all as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the appended claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates a bait-carrying rod, to one end of which I have shown bait B attached and to the opposite end portion of which is connected a line C.
D designates a spoon, and E is the improved U-shaped piece or yoke E and prevents them from bending or collapsing whilein use, and thus interfering with the free movement of the spoon. It also enables the yoke to be made of Very light and slender material.
The sleeve or bead F may be made of colored glass or if made of metal may be highly polished and will thus add considerably in attraction and effect as it moves backward and forward along the rod A, carried by the spoon. Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a device of the character described, the combination with the U-shaped lug of light slender metal, and having the fiat parallel perforated end portions slidingly and revolubly engaging a bait-carrying rod, ofa perforated sleeve or bead, having the flat parallel upper and lower surfaces andrevolubly fitting upon the rod closely between said end portions'of the lug, and separate therefrom, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ERNEST ,F. PFLUEGER.
