HEINRICH KORRODI, OFBERNE, SWITZERLAND.
CAPSULE FOR COMPRESSED OR LIQUEFIED GASES.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 640,207, dated. January 2, 1900.
Application filed October 9, 1899. Serial No. 733,096. (No model.)
- To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH Konnonr, a citizen of Switzerland, residing-at 6 Archivstrasse, Berne, Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gapsules for Corn pressed or Liquefied Gases, (patents applied for in Germany, February 23, 1899, and in Switzerland March 13, 1899;) and I do hereby declare the-following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the 1 same.
' by means of the turned-in edge of the capsule Figure 1 represents a longitudinal central section of a capsule embodying my invention; Fig. 2, a similar view of a somewhat-modified form of such capsule.
The capsule a in Fig. 1 has an outer cover I), preferably made of some hard metal-for example, of metal similar to the capsule itselfand provided with central collar b and an inner cover c, made of some soft material-such as sheet tin, sheet aluminium, or the like. Both covers are tightly pressed neck against the inner shoulder 11 of such neck, the inner soft cover 0 serving at the same time as a means of tightening. In a recess of the outer cover I) a suitably-formed perforator e is arranged, the stem of which engages or fits in the collar b of the outer cover and projects therefrom, so that by means of pressure or of a blow applied tothestem the perforator e is caused to penetrate the innor soft cover 0 of the capsule a, whereby the lowing:
and outer cover.
gas is enabled to pass through the hole thus formed.' In order to facilitate the escape of -thegas through the outer cover I), the same is vented, for which purpose small outlets f are provided, or the hole in which the stem 6 is guided is made sufliciently wide for the purpose. In the form represented in Fig. 2 a further cover 9, made of some hard material, is placed below the soft inner cover 0 and has a small hole h, which regulates the outflow of the gases after the soft cover 0 has been perforated.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Lot ters Patent of the United States, is the fol 1. A capsule for compressed or liquefied gases comprising an inner cover and an outer vented cover in combination with a perfo rator movably mounted between the inner 2.' A capsule for compressed or liquefied gases comprising an inner cover and an outer vented cover provided with a collar in combination with a perforator whose stem loosely engages the collar in the outer cover and projects beyond the same. I
3. A capsule for compressed or liquefied gases provided with an inner shoulder and a turned-in edge or flange in combination with an inner and an. outer cover clamped between the shoulder and turned-in edge, and a perforator movably mounted in the outer cover.
4. Improvements in capsules for compressed or liquefied gases consisting of an innor soft-metal cover and an outer cover, and a perforator arranged between the inner and outer cover for the purpose of perforating the first-named cover, the stem of said perforator being guided in the outer cover and projecting therefrom, for the purpose ofefiecting a per foration of the soft cover to permit the exit of the gases by means of pressure or of a blow applied to such stem.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HEINRICH KORRODI. Witnesses:
