IMPROVED BROOM-HEAD.
@112 fitlgehule I'tfttlftil to in flgesz itrttett amen mm making gltlfi nf flgt same.
Be it known that I, BARNABAS HUNT, of Farmland, in the county of Randolph, and State of Indiana, have invented a newand useful Broom-Head; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of its construction, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a longitudinal elevation.
Figure 2, a horizontal transverse section of the same.
Figure 3 is a perpendicular transverse section of one of the tubes.
Figure 4 shows the use of the funnel in filling the tubes a with broom-corn, Z.
I construct my broom-head out of any suitable material and of any practicable size, by joining together, by soldering, or any substantial means, three or more tubes of equal or unequal lengths and diameters, making the centre tube a little longer and heavier than the others to accommodate the handlef. I fill these tubes with broom-corn securely, in bunches of the proper size, by means of cement, gum-elastic bands, 1:, 01' wrappers of twine, or of elastic orflexible material, and by pressing down the mouths or lower openings of the tubes g flatly and firmly against the broom-corn e. I use the funnel cl, fig. 4, to guide the broom-corn expeditiously in filling the broom-head. Flexible or elastic wrappers, a, will prevent the broom-corn e from cutting out or breaking off against the edges of the broom-head g.
A metal head of this kind will last for years, and can be readily replenished with new broom-corn by the broom-maker.
Having thus described my invention, what I-claim, is
As a new article of manufacture, a broom-head, consisting of a series of tubes, (2, made of sheet metal, and having the central tube longer than the others to receive the handlef, as herein sho-wnand described.
