The nature of my invention consists, first, in substituting for the fixed bearings commonly used, nflexible hearing, so that the revolving cylinder, which may be made in any of the common forms, may be suspended from the top by flexible connections, so as to admit a free lateral movement while it revolves, thus overcoming by the-uneven distribution of the weight of the materials to be acted upon,- y saving a great expenditure of power, much and great weight and expense of machines, and foundations to secure stability;

After the sugar or other material containodin the revolving cylinder has been acted upon, and the liquids separated and discharged through the apertures in the sides by the centrifugal force thus created, the valve j is 1' aised, and sliding upwards upon the shaft e, the contents of the cylinder are e above described.
