The object of the invention isto provide anew and improved ironing-board which is simple and durable in construction, readily attached to a table or like supportwithont danger of accidental displacement thereon, and arranged to permit of conveniently folding it and storing it in a comparatively small space when not in use. The improved ironing-board is provided with a board A, proper, at the under side of which is screwed, bolted, or otherwise secured a bracket B, having a downwardly and transversely extending flange B and depending lugs 13*, formed on their opposite faces with inclined bearings B for receiving the trunnions Ciformed'on the cylindrical portion C of a leg 0, adapted to rest at one end on the floor, as is plainly illustrated in Fig. 1. The bracketB is arranged near the head end of the board A, and the portion of the head beyond saidbracket is adapted to rest on the top of the table D, engaged at its under side directly opposite said head portion by a clamp,- ing extension 0 formed integrally on the cylindrical part C of theleg G and extending at an angle to the latter, the top surface being corrugated, so as to'securely clampthe underside of thetop of the table D andhold the board A against accidental movement or displacement while inxuse.

In using the device the head end of the I heard A is placed on the top of. the table, and

the leg 0, fulcrumed in the bearings B is then swung downward and rests with its free end on the floor, engaging with its clamping extension 0 the under side of the top of the table Ddirectly opposite the head of the board A to securely fasten the board in position, said board being then held in an extended or horizontal position by the operator engaging the brace E with a corresponding tooth F of the strengthening-plate. When it is desired to disengage the ironing-board from the table D the operator disengages the free end of the brace E from the plate F by slightly lifting the board A, and then the leg 0 is swung up ward to swing the clamping extension C downward and out of engagement with the top of the table 'I) to allow of removing the board and leg from the table. The operator then swings the leg 0 downward to clear the lug G from the flange B and permit of now. sliding the trnnnions 0 out of the angular bearings B upon pushing the leg 0 in the direction of said bearings. The leg 0 is thus disconnected from the board A, and the latter,

with the leg 0, having the brace E folded thereon, can now be readily stored away in a comparatively small space.

From the foregoingit is evident that the device is very simple and durable in construction, can be readily and convenientlyattached to a table or like support wheneverit is desired to use the board A for its legitimate purpose, and when so applied the ironing-board is not liable to be disconnected from the table ormoved out of position while in use.

Ne do not limit ourselves to the exact construction shown and described, as it is evident that the same can be varied Without departing from our invention.

Having thus fully described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An ironing-board, comprising a board proper, a bracket secured to the under side thereof and having open bearings, a supporting-leg having trunnions adapted to be removably placed in said open bearings, said leg also having a clamping extension, a lug on said leg to normally hold it in an operative position, a strengthening-plate secured to the under side of said board proper, and a brace pivotally connected to said leg, the free end of the brace being adapted to engage one of a series of teeth formed on said strengtheningplate, substantially as shown and described.

2. An ironing board, comprising a board proper adapted to rest at one end on a table or other support, a bracket attached to the under side of said board and having open bearings and a downwardly-extending flange, a supporting-leg having trunnions for removably engaging said open bearings, the leg also having an angular clamping extension for engaging the under side of the support directly opposite said end of the board, said leg also having a lug for engaging said flange, to prevent accidental disconnection of the leg and bracket when the board is in use, and a brace between said supporting-leg and said board, substantially as shown and described.

3. In an ironing-board, the combination of a board proper, a bracket attached thereto and having depending lugs formed with bearing-grooves in their adjacent faces, a leg having trunnions adapted to slide and to turn in the bearing-grooves, the leg also having a lug serving to engage the bracket when the legis in position, to prevent the displacement of the trunnions, a brace adapted to bear between the leg and board proper, and a clamping extension moving with the leg.

The combination of an ironing-board, a bracket attached thereto and having depending lugs formed with grooves therein, and a leg having trunnions capable of sliding and turning in the grooves, the leg'also having a I lug serving'to engage the bracket when the leg is in place, to prevent the sliding of the trunnions.
