FRED W. SHOEORAFT, OF STURGIS, MICHIGAN.
BICYCLE-PATH MAKER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 628,363, dated July 4;, 1899.
Application filed July 25, 1898. Serial No. 686,805. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRED W. SHOEORAFT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sturgis, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Bicycle-Path Maker, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in bicycle-path'makers wherein a plow is carried in a triangular-shaped frame on wheels by means of a plow-beam pivotally attached to the apex of the frame and to which direct draft can be applied.
The object of my invention is to provide a strong simple machine of light draft, cheap, and readily adapted to the purposes intended. I attain these objects by themcchanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a longitudinal elevation of the machine. Fig. 2 is a horizontal plan thereof. Fig. 3 is a detail view. v
Ais a triangular-shaped frame, with braces a secured thereto, each carrying a detachable cutting-disk b.
B is a plow-beam pivotally secured to the apex of frame A and supporting a double plow c and the drivers seat d and carrying a detachable disk 1) and also a supporting-wheel e at the forward end.
D is a roller attached to the rear cross-bar of the frame A to pack the surface after the plow and is detachable therefrom and for which can be substituted two supportingwheels 6, as the nature of the ground to be nal h and terminating in the lever g, by which,
in connection with the rack i, the plow is adjusted for operation.
j is a rack secured to the outerend of the plow-beam B, in which to hang a clevis, and gives a direct draft to the plow-beam from the motive power.
In operation when the ground is in sod the cutting-disks are retained to open up the Way in line with the points and extreme outer edges of the plow-cutters for the easy passage of the plow and clean turn over of the sod by the moldboards. The cutting-disks can be detached when the ground is bare.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a bicycle-path maker the combination of a triangular-shaped frame supported on wheels 6 the braces a carrying detachable disks 5 the detachable roller D with the plowbeam B pivoted at its forward end to the apex of frame A having direct draft from motive power, substantially as and for the purpose described.
