EGMONT KOEIILER, OF ALTENBRG, GERMANY.
SUPPORT FOR BICYCLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 617,028, dated January 3, 1899.
Application iiled Tune 6, 1898. Serial No. 682,780. (No model.)
T0 all whom, it may concern.'
Be it known that I, Eer/[ONT KOEHLER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Altenburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for Bicycles, of which the following is a full, clear and exact description.
The present invention consists of a support for bicycles in the form of a pair of pincers.
In the accompanying drawings similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout the several views.
Figure l is an elevation of the support; Fig. 2, an end elevation; Fig.3, a front elevation with the shanks closed; and Fig. 4, a side elevation of a bicycle, showing the support in operative position.
The support consists of the grippers or cheeks B B, which are made very thin, and the shanks S S, having pivoted at their ends at g the foot-plates P P.
In operation the cheeks B B are inclosed around the pedalshafts between the pedals and the crank-shaft, while the feet P P rest on the ground and support the cycle, as shown at Fig. 4. The pedal is advantageously turned to its lowest position in connection with this class of support in order that the support may be kept as small and light as possible.
I claim as my invention- A bicycle-support, consisting of two pivotally-connected cross-arms having upper gripping-cheeks B B to engage around the pedalshaft and shanks S S having foot-plates P P pivoted at their lower ends in the manner and for the purpose substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
EGMON'I KOEHLER.
