SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 616,773, dated December27, 1898. Application filed November 26,1897. sam no. 659,808. (nmina To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, TAYLOR E. DANIELS, a citizen of the U-nited States, residing at Ohicago, in the county of Cook and kState-of `Illinois, have invented a new and usefullmprovement in Roller-Skates, of which the following is a specification.v
The object of my invention is'to provide a generally improved but simple construction of roller-skate or footfcycle whereby it shall be rendered peculiarly light, strong, easy-running, and speedy and readily interchangeable from two front wheels to one front wheel, and vice Versa, whereby the spring action for controlling the steering by turning the front roller or rollers shall be adaptable to the Arequirements of users ofldifferent weights and whereby the wheel, with its l structure reduced to the fewest possible number of parts consistent with its roller-bearing character and its purpose, shall be rendered peculiarly durable and noiseless.

The diameter of the rear wheel D' is by preference materially greater than that of the front wheel or wheels, thereby to increase the speed of the skate accordingly.

What I claim as new, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'-'1. 7 In a skate-roller, the tire formed ot` hard material, such as hard rubben'and provided with a cireumferentalrecess in its tread portion, and a filling in said recess comprising a suitable thread-like material forming the tiretread, substantially as described.
8. In a skate-roller, the tire formed of'hard rubber, or the like, and provided with a circumferential recess in its tread portion, and a lling in said recess comprising rubber-sofrom said roller-bearing,
