Letters Patent No. 61,659, dated January .29, 1867.
IMPROVED BLASTINGPOWDER.
dte ficlgzhule mma tn in flgm itetters 33mm 211th making part at its same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, W. FEHLEISEN and ERNST FEHLEISEN, of Gilli, Austria, have invented a new and improved Blasting Powder; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description tion thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to fully understand and make use of the same.
This invention relates to an explosive compound intended'particularly for blasting purposes, and composed of saw-dust or other particles of wood or other cellulose material in a finely reduced condition, to which are added saltpetre or nitrate of potassa, charcoal or carbon, and prussiate of potassa or ferro-cyanide of potassium.
These ingredients are mixed together in about the following proportion: charcoal, three parts; saw-dust, nine parts; saltpetre, forty-five parts; ferro-cyanide of potassium, one part. After these ingredients have been thoroughly combined and mixed together, a compound is obtained which will not explodeby a blow or impact in ramming, or by friction, but only by ignition or the application of fire, or by very high heat.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A blasting compound made as set forth.
The above specification of our invention signed by us this 14th day of August, 1866.
I W'ILHELM FEHLEISEN,
ERNST FEHLEISEN.
