INVENTOR ATTORNEY union'.
PAreNr JOHN P. CRONIN, OF PATERSON, NEW JERSEY.
CREL-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 618,760, dated November 8, 1898.
Application filed February 23, 1898. Serial No. 671,342. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, JOHN P. CRONIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Creel-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to Creel-frames which are used in warping-machines; and the object of my improvement is to increase the capacity of the creel-frame without increasing its size by providing supports for one or more sets of eXtra bobbins above the first set. This I accomplish by means of the devices shown in the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a Creel-frame embodying my improvement.
Figure 1 is a front view of my improved Creel-frame, showing a few bobbins of two differentsets placed thereon and some of the extra set of pins removed. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detailed drawing, on an enlarged scale, showing the relative positions of the two sets of bobbins and the manner of supporting the extra set of bobbins.
Like letters of reference indicate similar parts.
A is the frame.
b b are the pins, rigidly attached to the frame, upon which are mounted the set of bobbins C.
f f are pins, longer than the pins b b and hinged to the frame A at o, (see Fig. 3,) upon which are mounted a second set of bobbins D.
I-I is a glass rod over which pass the threads from the bobbins C, and J is a similar rod over which pass the threads from the bobbins D.
t t are small vertical glass rods, between which the threads pass, and thence through a cross-reed to the reel in the usual manner.
The frame A is constructed in the ordinary manner, the pins for the bobbins being arranged in oblique rows to prevent the interference of the thread from the several bobbins mounted upon said pins.
The pins f f are hinged to the frameA in any convenient manner and are preferably provided with a spring, as shown at S in Fig. 3, which causes the pin to maintain its vertical position, as required. The pin f may readily be turned to one side, as shown in Fig. 3, for the purpose of removing or inserting the bobbin C whenever necessary. The long pins ff are also provided with a disk, as shown at L in Figs. 2 and 3, to prevent the bobbin D from dropping too far down and interfering with the bobbin C beneath; but instead of the disk L a pin or any other suitable device may be used for the purpose of retaining the bobbins D D above and clear of the bobbins O C.
The long pins f j' may be attached to the frame at any convenient place, either immediately alongside the pins b b or at any point between the latter. Also there may be sets of other and longer pins similar to the pins ff and similarly attached to the frame and adapted to support other sets of bobbins with a corresponding rod similar to J for each set of pins.
It is obvious that the form, arrangement, and location of the several parts above described may be varied, and other welbknown devices may be substituted for the different parts shown herein, without altering the principle of my invention.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a creci-frame, the combination of a set of pins rigidly afiixed to the frame and adapted to support bobbins thereon, with one or more additional sets of pins adapted to support one or more sets of bobbins above the iirstset of bobbins, said additional sets of pins being secured to the frame by loose connections so that they may be turned to one side to permit of the insertion and removal of bobbins in the set or sets beneath, and then restored to their original position.
2. In a creel-framethe combination of the pins b, b, rigidly affixed to the frame and adapted to support a set of bobbins thereon,
with the pins f, f, the latter being provided with a disk or similar device and adapted to support a set of bobbins above the bobbins on the pins b, b, said pins f, f, being hinged to the frame in such manner that they may be turned to one side to permit bobbins to be placed upon and removed from the pins b, b.
3. A Creel-frame provided with the pins b, b rigidly attached to the frame and the pins f, f, hinged to said frame, and provided with a spring S and a disk L substantially as shown and described.
JOHN P. CRONIN. WVitnesses:
TAYLOR BARKER, Y JOHN WILSON.
