HORSE SHOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 607,713, dated July 19, 1898. Application filed December 2, 1897. Serial No. 660,562. iNo model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that we, DANIEL SOMBATY, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and ALEXANDER SOMBATY, a citizen of the United States, both residing at South Euclid, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoes, of which the following is a specification. r
This invention relates to horseshoes; and it consists in the new constructions and combinations of a toe-call: with the body of the shoe in such a manner that it may be readily attached or removed at pleasure for sharpening or otherwise.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an under side view of a horseshoe having our improved toe-call: attached. Fig. 2 is a detached view of the calk. Fig. 3 is a detached View of part of the calk constituting a bolt.
A represents a horseshoe of the usual form and construction.
13 is the main part of the toe-calk, having a screw-threaded lug 0 near one end.
D is a screw-threaded bolt having a tapering head corresponding with the partB. On
the end of the part B opposite to the lug O is made an eye F, through which the bolt D passes for securing that end of the part B to the body A. In the toe of the shoe are made two screw-threaded holes for the lug and bolt.
The manner of attaching this calk is first to screw on the part B in one of the holes in the toe, bringing the eye E around over the other hole, then screwing in the bolt D, bringing its sharp edge on a line with the sharp edge of the part B.
The heel-calks are like the bolt D and are inserted in screw-threaded holes in the heels of the shoe.
Having described our invention, we claim- The combination With the horseshoe A, of the sharp-edged calk B having a screw-threaded lug C nearvone end and the eye F at the other end, and the bolt D having the sharpedged head, for securing the part B to the shoe A, substantially as described.
DANIEL SOMBATY. ALEXANDER SOMBATY.
