KEY-HOLDER,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,584, dated June 14, 1898. Application fil d November 15,1897. Serial No. 658,598. (No model.)
a citizen of the United States, residing at Howard, in the county of Centre and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Key-Holders, and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to that kind of keyholders which, generically speaking, comprise a body and key-engaging devices connected, to and movable in a circular direction upon the body; and its novelty and advantages will be fully understood from the following description and claim when taken in conjunction with the annexed drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved key-holder; and Fig. 2 is a view, partly in section and partly in elevation,illustrating the manner in which a key is con--' nected to the holder.

. designates the annular body or annulus of Q my improved key-holder, which is unobstructed throughout and may be and preferably is formed of a piece of wire of suitable disengaged when desired there is absolutely no liability of it being casually disconnected.
The said hooks B have eyes a at their inner ends receiving the annular body or annulus A, and they therefore cannot be disconnected from said body and lost, nor can they move endwise on the same and cause the keys to become entangled. While this is so, itwill be observed that the hooks B are free to move entirely around upon the annularbody and that therefore the hooks of the idle keys may be pushed ahead of the hook of the particular key to be employed and are free to assemble at the bottom of the annular body, where they will be out of the way and will not interfere with the manipulation of such particular key. The annular body or annulus A is preferably formed in the manner before described for the sake of cheapness, and for the same reason the hooks B are by preference respectively made of a single strip of resilient metal. In making each hook the strip of metal is bent to form the shank b with the hook -c at one end and the eye a at its opposite end, which eye termina-tes in a tongue d, adaptedto normally impinge against the end of the hook c, as shown. so as to form the contraction e and thereby prevent the annular body or annulus from leaving'the eye a.
The keys being connected to the snap-hooks B and said hooks being connected to the annular body A in the manner described, the said body may be made very small in diame* ter, which contributes to the cheapnessof the holder and at the same time renders it less cumbersome than if a ring of large diameter were employed. 6

It will be appreciated from the foregoing that my improved key-holder is very cheap, simple, and compact and that while it per mits of the keys being readily connected and disconnected when desired there is no liability of any of the keys being casually disconnected and lost. It will also be appreciated that the construction of the key-holder is such that any one of the keys thereon may be freely manipulated without interference from the other keys or the hooks holding the same; also, that keys -may be readily connected to and disconnected from the snapessentially of the annular body or annulus A formed by bending apiece of Wire into eirannnlarbody are free to move entirely around eular form with its ends connected together, upon the same, substantially as specified. x0 and the plurality of snap-hooks B each formed In testimony whereof I allix my signature by a single strip of resilient metal bent to in presence of two Witnesses.
