UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE M. IIOIVE, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
GAME APPARATUS.
SIQECIFICATIOH forming part of Letters Patent No. 586,437, dated July 13, 1897.
Application filed January 28, 1897. Serial No. 621,083. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE M. HOWE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in game apparatus of the character in which loose balls or spheres are arranged in a box for adjustment to any desired or predetermined position or goal.
The object of the invention is to provide what I call a presidential or political game-board, whereby the operator may acquire steady nerves and dexterity in the operation of seating his preferred candidate in ofiice.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are sections showing the sensitive platform in different positions.
A is a box or receptacle having a transparent cover or top a, and B is a balanced or floating platform with the box A. The platform is laid off into four, more or less, equal divisions to represent different political platforms or parties. In the center of the part B is a depression I), which may be called the presidential chair or seat of office. The
part B is supported at the center upon a coiled spring 0 in such way that it will yield and tilt in all directions and constitutes what I call a floating platform.
In the middle of each division or political' platform I attach at l l'the parties or the.
names of the candidates or some symbol designating the candidates of the respective parties.
D is a sphere of any suitable substance, which may be used to represent any candidate. The candidate is placed on his platform by the manipulator, and the game contemplates conducting a candidate into office.
One sphere or ball may be used to successively represent all of thecandidates, or there may be separate spheres or balls with distinguishing-marks, one for each candidate, in which case the game may be played to decide which candidate will be elected or seated in the official chair. In case a plurality of spheres is used depressions will be made in the party-platforms, so that the part B may be first balanced, after which the effort will be to elect the preferred candidate or seat him in office.
Having described my invention, I claim The improved game or puzzle consisting of the combination of a box or case having a transparent cover, a centrally-spring-supported sensitive platform laid off into equal designated party-divisions and having a central seat or depression arranged within the case, and one or more spheres or balls.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE M. HOWVE.
