To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN O. BLACKBURN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Advertising Mediums; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and t0 the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an important advertising medium particularly adapted for use upon street-railway cars or other moving vevicles and it consists in an obj ect suspended to a lever that will move at each oscillation or vibration of the car and thereby attract attention to an advertisement located in the immediate vicinity or adjacent thereto, together with the certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinafter. 4 In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my improved advertising device which is constructed and arranged in connection with a street-railway car or other vehicle in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same,
showing the balance-lever and its connections.
To put my invention into practice, I provide a box-shaped frame 2 and attach the same in a horizontal position above the windows of a street-railway car l or in any other conspicuous position best adapted to attract attention ject may be seen.
from the traveling public. At one side of this frame 2 is an opening 3 to the interior of the box and through which the moving 0b- This object may be ahorse, an animal 5, or any other object that maybe desired, and arranged within this frame 2 is a long lever 8, pivoted at 9, and attached to the horse 5 by a link ll. This object 5 is pivoted at 7 to a post or cross-piece 6 at or about the center of gravity. Attached to the lever S is a large pendulum lO of a greater weight than the object 5, which Will oscillate or vibrate with the movement of the car l. An advertisement is placed on the exterior of the frame 2, and the public Will, when the obj ect 5 vibrates, have their attention attracted toward the sign.
I-Iaving thus'described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In testimony-whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
