Description

(No Mode'l.)
I. KITSEE. GAME APPARATUS.
No. 574,909. Patented Jan. 12; 1897.
' ventor. Witnesses. I In osJd/dw- $1M r UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISIDOR KITSEE, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, .ASSIGNOR OF ONE- FOURTH TO BARTON L. BROWN, OF SAME PLACE.
GAME APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 574,909, dated January 12, 1897. Application filed August 3, 1895. Serial No. 558,095. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ISIDOR KITSEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to game apparatus; and it consists in various features, details, and combinations hereinafter set forth and claimed. 7
Referring to the drawings, in which similar letters indicate similar parts, Figure l is a plan view of the device. Fig. 2 is a section on line 4 4 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a perspective of the different separated parts.
A is the main or supporting casing, having on its periphery the two small indents a a.
Bis a disk which is provided with the groove 6, having depressions or holes I). As illustrated in the drawings, the disk B is placed in the casing A when the apparatus is intended to be used.
The disk 13 is divided into as many different spaces as there are depressions in the groove. These spaces are colored with the national colors-red, white, and blue.
O is a ball designed to revolve in the groove 1) when the disk is set in motion.
D is a ring placed on the outer periphery of the disk B. This ring has on its face, printed or otherwise marked, any desired sentence, letter, or sign, butthe number of sentences, letters, or signs should correspond with the number of depressions in the groove 1). The placing and dimension of the ring are such that it slightly overlaps the groove and thereby prevents the ball C from falling out of the groove if the disk is in motion.
E is the clamping-rill g, which rests with its flange e on the flange d of the ring D. This ring is ,provided with short grooves e, designed to pass over the indents a. The ring is then turned and clamps thereby the different parts of the apparatus tightly and securely together. After this operation the holder F is placed inthe position as illustrated in Fig. 2, that is, the pointed ends f are sprung in the detents f f, with which the outer parts of the casing A and the disk B are provided, respectively.
The modus operandi is the following: The operator holds the holder F between two fingers of one hand and imparts with the other hand a revolving motion to the outer casing and disk of the apparatus proper. Through this motion and the revolving of the apparatus the ball will change its place; The apparatus may be used as a play toy by simply placing on the ring D such sentences as ECYeSU NO,77 t -P0 day,,7 T0 mOrr0 which sentences are designed to answer questions, the ball, when the apparatus comes to rest, indicating by its resting-place the answer to the particular question.
Having now described my invention, what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a game apparatus in combination a grooved disk, a ball adapted to revolve in said grooved disk, a handle adapted to hold said grooved disk, said game apparatus being also provided with an independent removable device provided with a series of words or sentences.
2. A game apparatus, consisting of a grooved disk provided with holes or depressions and an independent movable ring provided with words or characters, corresponding in number to the number of depressions in the groove, and a ball adapted to spin in said groove.
3. A game apparatus consisting of a grooved disk, a ball adapted to spin in said groove, and an interchangeable ring provided with words or characters substantially as and for the purpose specified.
4. A game apparatus consisting of an outer casing, a grooved disk having a ball in its groove, a ring provided with words or sentences and a clamping device for holding casing, disk and ring together.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I hereunto sign my name this 22d day of July, A. D. 1895.
