Description
(Hommel.) L l y M. K. HAMILTON.
BOTTLE COLLAR.
No. 571,088. Patentd Nov. 10, 1896.
TH: Nouns mens no.. vHoYoJJuo.. wasn-ummm, n c j UNITED STATES MARK K. HAMILTON,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
BOTTLE-COLLAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 571,088, dated November 10, 1896.
Application filed April 29 1896.
portions of it, so that the sides of the bottle' or receptacle or its resting-place may not become soiled by such drip, and I attain this object by means of the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevated view of the neck of a bottle with my device attached. Fig. 2is a cross-sectional view of my device embracing the neck of a bottle cut laterally through the center. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of my device embracing the neck of a bottle cut longitudinally through the center, and Fig. A is a detached view of a flexible band forming part of the device and hereinafter more fully described.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughoutv the several views.
A is the neck of a bottle embraced by the flexible band B, which is padded with absorbent material O, preferably wood-wool,
pressing against the bottle material. This padding O is held to the inside of the flexible band by means of the two rows of teeth a, cut into said band and shown :in Fig. 1, and which are bent over and upon the padding to hold Serial No. 589,529. (No model.)
it rmly in place. In one end of the lexible band a slot O is cut for the reception of the tongue b at the opposite end of the said band, designed to clench into said slot.
This device and the application of it are so simple that it would seem hardly necessary to explain such application after explaining its mechanical parts and uses. I therefore in that behalf simply invite attention to Fig. 1 of the drawings, in which the application of my device is fully shown in illustration and where it can be seen locked to the neck of a bottle by means of the slot a and tongue b.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The combination of the bottle A, flexible band B, padding O, teeth ci, tongue h, and slot c, substantially as shown and described and for the purposes above set forth.
2. A new article of manufacture, a device designed to take up and absorb drip from the neck of a bottle or other receptacle, consisting of a flexible band padded preferably with wood-wool, the padding being held in place by means of teeth cut into both edges of the band and bent over on the padding and provided with a slot at one end and atthe other end with a tongue intended to enter and be clenched into said slot when attached to the neck of a bottle or other receptacle, substantially as shown and described.
