LAUNDRY-LIST INDICATOR.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 570,319, dated October 27, 1896.

cially adapted for recording the number of pieces sent to a laundry or delivered to be washed, but which is likewise applicable as a record for orders given for various articles or for various articles delivered.

The object of the invention is to provide a record-list upon which the names of various articles may be produced and prominentlyV shown, and likewise to provide the said list with inscribing-surfaces capable of being written upon with a lead or a slate pencil, a crayon, or the like, the said inscribing-surfaces being opposite the name of each article on the record-list, and whereby also another inscribing-surface will be produced upon the said record-list adapted to receive a date.

Another object of the invention is to so mount the record-list upon a handle that the name of any particular article may be brought in a position over the handle which will facilitate the placing of a number in the inscribing-surface opposite that name.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of the several parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

In carrying out the invention, the recordlist A may be made of pasteboard, Celluloid, or any other desired material, and it may be of any desired shape. Preferably,however, it

is given a circular form, and in the central portion of the said list upon its front face an inscribing-surface B is produced by roughenin g the said surface if the list is made of celluloid or applying a silicate or equivalent facing thereto if the list is made of cardboard or a like material, and upon the margin of the list upon its front face a second inscribingsurface O is made in substantially the saine manner as the central one.

In the space between the two inscribingsurfaces the names of various articles, such as Vearing-apparel, Table and bed linen, &c., are printed or otherwise produced, and the said names are arranged ordinarily in 4lines radially from the central space, and

preferably a panel D is provided on the list between the two inscribing-surfaces for the naine of each article.

The names of the articles are to be permanently made on the record-list, and the date on which the articles are delivered to the laundry, for example, is to be written upon the central inscribing-surface, and the number of pieces of each article is written upon the outer inscribing-surfaces opposite the names of the articles, as shown in Fig. Il, and the numbers and likewise the date are preferably written in with a lead-pencil, a slate-pencil, or a crayon, in order that when the order has been Villed or the pieces of the laundry returned the number of said pieces may be erased.

Preferably and as a matter of convenience the record-list is mounted to turn upon one end portion of a handle E, being pivotally connected thereto by means of an eyelet E or the equivalent thereof, and in order that the list maybe steadied as it is revolved and prevented from revolving too rapidly a lug F is formed upon the front face of the handle, and this lug extends outward and upward, being of angular construction, to receive the margin of the list. An opening G is also usually made in the handle in order that the list may be hung up when desired.

An advertisement of any approved character may be produced on the back of the list, as shown in Fig. 3, or this back portion may be decorated in any approved manner or may contain a list of articles different from the list on the front, in which event the inscribing-surfaces are produced on the bach` also.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- IOO A record-list, comprising a circular board having a` central cincular nseri'bng-surface, an annular marginal inscribing-suface and radial panels in the space between Jhe said inscribing-surfaces, the said panels having the naines of the articles produced thereon, and a handle to the upper end of which the beard is pivcted, said handle having a lug projecting overighe margin of the board, sub stantially as herein shown and described.
