SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 567,885, dated September 15, 1896.

To aZZ whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. GONKLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Table Rock, in the county of Pawnee and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Parlor Games; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The special object of the invention is a game which may be played indoors and serve to amuse children or grown persons in their hours of leisure.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a top perspective view; Fig. 2, a detail bottom view, partly in plan and partly in section.

In the drawings, A represents the gameboard, having the vertical circumferential flange a, B a square platform on the board and parallel to the flange ca,but less in altitude,and C a wide groove between the flange and plat- The platform has at each corner a concavity b, those diagonally opposite being of the same color, while it is divided by lines 1) into four equal parts, each running from a central cavity 1) perpendicularly to one of the sides of the platform, so as to bisect it.

Opposite each cavity 5 on the outside thereof and in the same diagonal line, are arranged the four posts D, and on each of these posts are attached the two spring-arms (Z d, one on each side of a cavity b In the groove C are placed, opposite to each other, the two counters E E, which have long been used in games where counting is required.

F is a receptacle in which the pieces with which the game is played may be safely, stowed away when not in use. It consists of a chamber f with a spring-door f, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

The game may be played by two persons or with partners by four, each person in both cases being provided with six disks, there being in the first case six disks of one color and six of the other color, while if there is a partnership game there are twelve disks of each color.

The groove 0 is intended only to receive the pieces after they have been played. The two players sit opposite each other, as in other games, although two or four may play the game together, the color of the disk in concavity to his right designating the color of the pieces he is playing. Each player takes six pieces or disks of his color and plays one, turn and turn about, until all are, played, by flipping with his finger from the edge of the platform.

All disks in the square which have the red holes count five apiece for the red, while those in the red holes count fifteen, and any blacks found in the outside corner of red holes count ten for the red. Of course the same method of counting is applied to the blacks.

If any disk is found in the center hole, it counts twenty-five for the color of said. disk. When the counts of each side have been summed up, the lesser number of them is subtracted from the greater and the net balance entered on the counter of the color to which it belongs.

."What I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-

A game board having the surrounding flange a, square platform divided into four equal parts on the board, and a groove between the flange and platform for the pieces that have been played, the said platform having at each corner a large concavity marked by some color, provided in the middle with a quincunx of holes for the pieces or disks to enter for counting and posts D with springarms d d, all combined and arranged substantially as shown and described.
