JOHN MUSSER, OF FRIZELLBURG, MARYLAND.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 55,885, dated June 26, 1866..
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN MUSSER, of Frizellburg, Carroll county, State ot' Maryland, have invented a new and uset'ul Machine t'or Filling and Packing Bark, Guano, Snc., in Bags or Oasks; and I do hereby declare the followin g to be a clear and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings,land to the letters otl reference marked thereon, making a part of `this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in stampers with movable levers arranged in combination with a revolving cylinder that holds the bag or cask to be filled with bark or guano.

A is the upright frame that supports the operating devices; B, a horizontal shaft to be driven by a crank or band Wheel, having four projecting arms, C, and bevel-gearing D.
The arms O operate upon the movable levers E, that operate the upright stampers G, While the level-gearing D drives the belt H, that revolves the upright cylinder J, that holds the bag or cask K, that revolves with the cylinder J, While the stampers stamp the bark or guano laround the side instead of in the center of the bag.
When the bag is stamped full the bevelwheel D on the post Lis pushed aside and ungeared, and the cylinder ceases to revolve until the tilled bag is removed and another bag replaced to be tilled and stamped tightly; and at any time that it is necessary to stop the operation ot' the stampers the lever M is is raised and the hooks NNhold up the movable levers E.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The movable levers E, operating on the vertical stampers G, with the upright revolving` cylinder J, when arranged, combined, and operated as herein described, and for the purposes set forth.
