By having the radial slot and spring y, the ink-roller is kept pressed toward the oscillatory block B, and yet said ink-roller may yield or be pushed away by the block B when it passes the roller. By having the rounded extremity a larger than the ink-roller G, the partlycylindric case .2 may be fastened on said extremity and cover the ink-roller, and yet leave it free to turn on its journals 1;.
A depressing-knob O has a shank G which is secured on the pivoted frame. By pressing down on this knob C an impression may be made by one of the type-faces T on the oscillatory block 13.
In operation the impressionblock B makes at least a quarter turn and back again every time the frame C is depressed, and this is the reason we term it an oscillatory block.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a hand stamp, the combination of a pivoted frame having yoke-arms; plate ends having alug, a; a shaft revoluble in said yokearms and having slight endwise movement and carrying an impression block; a tumble plate loose on the shaft and having a notch, w, to coact with said lug and a series of holes concentric with the shaft; a knob on the end of the shaft and provided with a pin, 23, to engage one of the holes in the tumble-plate; and means for holding the said loose tumble plate stationary when drawing the shaft endwise so that the shaft may be drawn freely through it in order to detach the knob-pin from one of the holes in the plate, substantially as described.
2. In a hand stamp, the combination of the yoke-arms one of which has a groove, 1'; plate ends having a lug, a; a shaft revoluble in said yoke-arms and having slight endwise movement and carrying an impression block; a tumble plate loose on the shaft and having a notch, w, and a series of holes concentric with the shaft and provided with a lateral hook which engages the groove on the yokearm; and a knob on the end of the shaft and provided with a pin, 19, to engage one of the holes on the tumble plate.
3. In ahand stamp, the combination of the side plates, A, provided at their highest part with projecting down-curved arms each having a rounded extremity, u, a bearing, '0, and a radial hole, 00; an inking roller, G, whose journals are in said bearings; a spiral spring, in each radial hole and pressing against the journals; a part cylindric case, z, fitted on the said rounded extremities and confining the springs and covering the ink-roller; a pivoted yoke frame; and an oscillatory impression block carried by said yoke-frame.
