ADJUSTABLE GRAlN-CHUTE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 550,632, dated December 3, 1895.
Application fil d October 26, 1894. Serial No. 527,077. (No model.) Patented in Germany October 13, 1893, No. 76,185; in $witzerland November 13, 1893, No. 7,6 78 in France November 17, 1893, No. 234,115 3 in Belgium November 29,1893,No. 107,403; in Italy December 1, 1893, No. 35,322; in Denmark December 9, 1893,- in Sweden December 21, 1893,11'0. 5,069,

T0 on whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL MORADELLI, a subject of the King of Bavaria, residing at Munich, in the Kingdom of Bavaria, German Empire, have invented a certain new and useful Adjustable Grain-Chute, (for which I have obtained patents in Germany, dated 00- tober 13, 1893, No. 76,185; in Switzerland, dated November 13,1893, No. 7 67 8; in France, dated November 17, 1893, No. 234,115; in Belgium, dated November 29, 1893, No. 107,403; in Italy, dated December 1, 1893, No. 35,322; in Denmark, dated December 9, 1893; in Sweden, dated December 21, 1893, No. 5,069, and in England, dated January29, 1894,No. 1,904,) of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention relates to a device by means of which the quantity of grain passed along a grain-chute may be varied at will. The regulating device is arranged underneath the hoppers of the upper floors of grain-stores and at the bottom of the bin at the lower floor, from which bin the grain may be taken at any desired rate, according to the adjustment of the said device.
The device consists of a series of angleirons arranged transversely over the bottom of the bin at a certain distance from each other, said angles being vertically adjustable at will. Between the said angles and below the same are mounted a number of radiallyadjustable segments, which may be moved to allow a greater or less space between themselves and the said angles. According to the adjustment of the segments the grain may be allowed to pass between them and the angles in greater or less quantities.
In order to make this specification more easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters denote similar parts throughout the several views.
Figure 1 is a vertical section ofthe device 5 Fig. 2, a horizontal section on the line a; 00 in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a verticaltransverse section on line y y in Fig. 1.
On the frame a b at the bottom of the box or bin A are mounted the inverted transverse angle-irons c c by means of screws (1 cl, which serve, also, to adjust the said angle-irons vertically, the said screws resting on'and terminating in the lateral frame parts a a, Fig. 3. Between each two angle-irons is arranged a curved plate 9, mounted at each end on segments h h, to which are attached at one and the same end of each plate the bars 1' 2, said bars being each pivoted to a bar or angleiron is, fixed at the lower part of the framing a, b. The bars t' extend below the sta tionary bar and are each pivoted at their lower end to a movable connecting-rod on, having at its end an operating-lever n. The segments at the farther end of the plates are supported on short arms pivotally attached to the farther side of the frame.
By altering the position of the rod 17. and with it the positions of the plates 9 with regard to the angles 0 the spaces f between the said angles and plates may be varied, and thus the outflow of the grain from the bin increased or diminished at will. Any suitable means may be provided to retain the bar min the desired position.
I claim as my invention-- The combination of a frame a b at the bottom of a bin or hopper, transverse inverted angle irons c vertically adjustable on said frame by means of screws d d, transverse curved plates 9 beneath the spaces between said angle-irons, segments at each end of said plates, pivotal attachments for said segments to the frame a b, downwardly extending arms i 2', connecting rod to which said arms are pivoted at their lower end and operating lever a, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL MORADELLI.
