. E. N. DIGKERSON, PHOTOGRAPHIO DEVELOPING APPARATUS.
No. 550,599. Patented Dec. 3, 1895.
1 "Emmi? UNiTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDW'ARD N. DIOKERSON, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
PHOTOGRAPHIC DEVELOPING APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent NO. 550,599, dated December 3, 1895.
Application filed May 27, 1895. Serial No. 550,759. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD N.DIoKERsoN, of No. 253 Broadway, in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Photographic Development, of which the following is a full, true, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to an improved mecl1- anism for automatically moving a tray during the development of the photographic plate. Ordinarily these trays are rocked or moved by hand. By my invention such movement or rocking can be automatically done while the operator is attending to other duties.
My invention will be readily understood from the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a plan view of my apparatus, and Fig. 2 a vertical section through Fig. 1 on the line so 00.
A represents the photographic tray containing the photographic plate. It is supported upon the platform 13, which is preferably recessed and drained. Parallel to this is the operating-shaft O, which may be driven by any suitable power, but, as shown, is driven by the motor D, having its movement reduced through belts and pulleys E F. The
shaft B is provided with one or more eccentrics G, having the usual eccentric strap and pitman H. The edge of the tray is clamped by a clamp or clamps J, hinged at K to the pitman H, thereby, allowing the tray to move constantly arallel'; notwithstanding that the rod His swinging through an arc. A turn of the set-screw L releases the tray.
It is obvious that, if desired, several eccentrics and clamps can be employed for operating different trays, or two may be attached to one tray in case the same is of large size.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the support B, the reciprocating tray A, the shaft 0, motor D, crank or eccentric G, and the flexible'connection between the trayA and the eccentric G, which is provided with the clamp J pivoted to the pitman H and constructed to engage with the edge of the tray A, substantially as described.
In testimony Wliereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing w itnesses.
E. N. DICKERSON.
