. provements in Axle and Skein Supporters for Wagons; andI do deolare'the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in axle-skein supporters for wagons; and it consists in a supporter which has an opening is its lower end for the axle-skein to pass through and which is secured at its upper end to the bolster, combined with a plate applied to the under side of the axle, as will be more fully described hereinafter.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the supporter detached. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a view of the axle and bolster and showing the supporter secured in position. Fig. 4 is a detached view of the plate that is applied to the under side of the axle.

A represents the axle,B the bolster, and O one of the hounds, which is secured in position by means of the clip D, which straddles both the bolster and the axle and serves to secure all of the parts rigidly in position.

Appliedto the outer end of the axle is the skein F, which has its inner end to abut against the shoulder G on the plate H, which is applied to the under side of the axle, and which shoulder limits the distance that the skein shall be-forced upon the axle. The supporter I has an opening J through its lower end, and this supporter is passed over the skein F, as shown in Fig. 3, and has its upper end, secured in any suitable manner to the under side at the end of the bolster. The lower end of the supporteris shaped as shown and fits in the recess 0 in the outer end of the plate H for the purpose of being held rigidly in position at this point. The plate H extends along the under side of the axle A and is held tightly in contact therewith by means of the clips D. As the supporter cannot move sidewise on account of the axle and the bolster to which it is secured at its upper end, and as the plate H prevents any outward movement of the supporter at its lower end, it will readily be seen that the supporter is held rigidly in position and prevented from having any movement whatever of its own.

This supporter being made separately and independently from the skein can be removed and replaced at will, and is much more serviceable to use than if the two parts were made in one.

Having thus described my invention, I.

claim- I V 1. The axle, the bolster, and the skein, combined withthe supporter which passes over the skein, and a plate applied to the under side of the axle for holding the supporter in position and provided with a recess at its end to receive the lower end of the supporter, substantially as described.

2. The axle, the bolster, the hound, and a clip which straddles both the bolster and the axle and secures the hound O in place, combined with the skein, the supporter having an opening through its lower end so as to pass over the skein, and which has its upper end secured to the bolster; and a plate applied to the under side of the axle and having a recess in its outer end to receive the lower end of the supporter, substantially as set forth.
