To all whom it may concern.:

Beit known that I, THOMAS A. NEESE, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Roanoke, in the county of Randolph and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful Plow Attachment, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improvement in plow attachments and refers particularly to the means for securinga plow-point to the stock or standard in such manner as to render the same capable of being adjusted to any desired height.

The object of this invention is to provide novel means of simple, inexpensive, and durable construction by which a plow-point of any desired character may be readily and quickly applied to or removed from a plow standard or foot and be raised or lowered relatively to said standard or foot for enabling the same to penetrate the soil to any desired depth.

With the above objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features and details of construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully set forth, illustrated in the drawings, and finally embodied in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective View illustrating the present improvement. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through a plow-point, slotted standard, or foot and also through the clamping and spacing plates. Fig. 3 is a detail View of the spacing-plate. Fig. 4 is a similar View showing the form of the plow-point.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, l designates a plow standard or foot the same as is used in the construction of any ordinary plow or cultivator. vFor the purpose of carrying out the present invention this standard or foot is provided at its lower extremity with an elongated slot 2, which is adapted to receive a bolt 3, by means of which the plow point, hoe, or shovel is secured thereto.

The point or shovel indicated by the reference-numeral 6 may be of any desired form and is applied to the forward face of the standard or foot 1, so as to rest with its upper edge against the lower edge of the spacingplate 4. When in this position, a clampingplate 7 is applied outside of the spacing-plate and point or shovel 6 in such manner as to firmly confine such plate and point between it and the forward face of the standard or foot, such clamping-plate being formed with a perforation for the reception of the bolt 3, which, as above described, passes also through the spacing-plate and the elongated slot in the standard or foot 1. The bottom edge of the plate 7 bears directly against the plow point or shovel and has its opposite lower corners rounded ed, as indicated at 8.

By means of the construction above described it will be seen that a plow point or shovel or other cultivatingpoint may be readily and quickly applied to the plow standard or foot, and that when in place the height of such plow-point may be regulated by loosening the bolt 3 and moving the same up or down within the elongated slot 2 in the standard. In order to remove one plow-point and substitute another it is only necessary to loosen the bolt 3, whereupon such plow-point may be slipped outward from beneath the clamping-plate 7 and any other point or shovel inserted in lieu thereof. By means of this construction a plow having a standard or foot which is too short may be quickly adapted to perform the work desired, as such construction adapts the plow-point to be extended considerably beneath the lower extremity of thestandard,while at the same time the clamping-plate 7 serves to thoroughly brace and support the plow-point.
