FUNNBL HOLDING BRACKET.
Patent-ed Sept. 10, 1895,
Jzyentar' raras ArnfNr rates,
EMIL Reyna, or soUTI-I BEND, INDIANA.
" FUNNEL-HoLolNe BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming para of Letters Patent No. 546,081, dated september 1o, 1895.
` l* Application led May 27, 1895. Serial No.550,'791 (No model.)
To all whom t may concern;
VBe it known that I, EMIL REYER, a citizen lof the United States, residing-in South Bend,
in the county of St. Josephand State ot' Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Funnel-Holding,r Brackets,
:of which thefollwing is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved funnel-holder and bracket-support to be used in l laboratory practice and for other similar purposes. The object of my invention is to provide .a
funnel-holder adapted to receive funnels or.V
. percolators of -varioussizes and a bracket ladapted to be secured either to abracket rod I or standard. or to a shelt` or other similar con-l venient support; and the improvements con-v sist 1n certain special forms, combinations, and-arrangements of parts hereinafter particularly described, with reference to the` ac' company'in'g drawings', wherein- Figure 1" is a perspective view of a funnel'- holder and bracketsupport secured to a bracketlstandard. Fig. 2is an enlarged plan thereof; Fig. 3, a' sectional elevation of a funnel-holder of 4the pattern or form shown in Figs, `land 2,-but attached Ito ashelt; and` Fig. 4, a perspective view ofa single `funnelj orlrod 7, formedl integral with the outer fun' supporting ring detached.
The. funnel-supporting bracket is so constructed that it may be either secured to a j bracket standard or'rod 1 or to a shelf, table- Aleaf, or other dat projection 2 by means of a novelrform fof clamping-javtr 3, tted. with set-screvvsfi/li" for securing it to said supports, anda sleevev and clamping-screw 6 to respectively receive and secure thereto a shank nel-ring 8 ofla series of rings 8, 9,' 10, 11, and 12, adapted to t one Within the otherand receive the middle diameter of funnels,`perco laters, and similar laboratory appliaucesmofl various sizes.
* In practice all et` theI rings .of smaller ameter than the ringbest tittedlto the sizeof the funnel. to beusedare removed from the` ;set, andthe 1remaining rings, supportedsuc-- vcessivelyupon the outer ring l' 8, having the shank 7, andguponeachother, will, vhensecurelyattached toA sleeve ot' the clampingjaws fby the 'clamping-screw 6 and to the bracket-standard 1 or'shelf2 by the setscrews 4 4.,"provide a solid, secure, and effective deviceforhldingthefunnelor percolatorofany required size and without danger of being upset, broken, or otherwise disarranged or disconnectedby accidental contact with other things.
VThebracket portion is especially convenientand e'ects a secure connection, While it is equally Well adapted for attachment to a rod, standard, orshelf. The body I3, of which the jaws 3 3a and sleeve 5 are apart, is made of cast metal drilled and tapped at 14 toreceive the .set-screws el et andin the sleeve at 15 to` receive the clamping-screw G, and is strong, light, andwell adapted to supportthe -of the vbracket is formed with a recess 16, having a rounded end and an angular end, into which the rod or standard 1 is fitted 'and is securely clamped by the direct impingement thereon of the Vset-sc,revv./1"-, as above describedL The funnel- rings 8, 9, 10, 11, and
12 are 'preferably made thin to secure' lightness and are made to rest more securely one upon the other by means of projecting lugs 9 10, dec., either cast or stamped Aup upon them. 'lhe rings are thus held more securely, andthe funnelthus supported Will ho'lda y heavy load with perfect safety.
The body `13 of thebracket is adapted to bepplaced either verticallyvor horizontally,
and the sleeve, set-screw 6, and shank 7, to '.which the'outer ringS is attached, will admit of the said bracket-rings being placedand rheldr in' any suitable or `preferred. position or adjustment, as the shank? may be both' pushed in and out and turned 'around in the sleeve, and when the funnelfholding rings are not inl-use they may be removed entirely from the bracket-body and clamping portion-of the device and placed outfoi the Way.` I
I am awarethat varionsly-formed adjust- :i ing-brackets land also that a series ot' concen.-`
tric rings for receiving utensils of various sizes have been heretofore employed,an d Ido not broadly claim such device or devices, as luy are not adapted for use as herein speci- Iclaim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- .v y
l. A bracket for supporting funnels, percolators and similar laboratory apparatus comprising a body having parallel jaws, one
4of which is recessed to receive a bracket standard and the other of which has set screws, one of which is disposed opposite said recess, substantially as described.
2. A* vbracket: for supporting funnels and percolators, comprising a bracket body having clamping jaws, a sleeve and set screw, and a series of rings, one`of which has a shank projecting exteriorly therefrom to be held wit-hin the sleeve by the set screw, substantially as described.,v f
In testimonythat l claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribingr witnesses.
EMIL REYER.
