To all whom t mag/concern.-

Be it known that I, HERMANN ScHRonDER, of the cityof Breese, Clinton county,State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pneumatic Collar-Pads, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart hereof.

My invention relates to an improvedpneumatic collar pad, and vconsists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure I is a `front elevation of my improved collar-pad. Fig. II is a sectional view on the line II II of Fig. I, and looking in the direction as indicated by the arrow in Fig. I. Fig. III is a horizontal vertical sectional view taken, approximately, on the indicated line IIIIII of Fig. I.

Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, l indicates the body of my improved pad, the same being a section of rub# ber or analogous flexible material, said body being either square, oval or round in plan View when flattened out. Said bodyl is bent or molded into an inverted U-shape, in order that it may be easily fitted and adjusted upon an animals back or neck.

Formed in the sides of the body 1 after it has been bent into the proper shape are a series of apertures 2, for the purpose of -ventilation to the space beneath the pad when it is properly located upon an animal.

, Formed integral with the under side of the body l adjacent each end thereof are inflatable tubular sacks or pads 3, the same extending to the lower edges of the body 1. The ends of said sacks are closed and a connecting-tube 4 extends Vfrom one of said sacks to the other at a point immediatelybeneath theV apex or upper end of the section l.

An air-valve 5 of any common construction is provided with a cap 6, and serves as a'means for iniiating thepair of sacks 3, as said airvalve is located in the upper and forward end of one of said sacks. When the end of an airpump is applied to this valve and said airpump is manipulated, air will be forced into the sack in which said valve is located, and from thence said air will travel through the tube 4 and into the opposite sack 3.' When said sacks are properlyinflated, the air-pump is removed from the valve 5, the cap 6 placed upon said valve, and the pad is ready to be placed in position upon an animals neck.

A pad of my improved construction is inexpensive, is constructed in a single piece and greatly relieves the pressure and Wear upon an animals neck.v

I claiml1. A pneumatic collar pad, constructed of a single piece of flexible material bent into inverted U-shape, and provided l`on its under side with a plurality of integral inflatable sacks or cushions.

2. A pneumatic collar pad,`cons`tructed of a singlepiece of flexible material of inverted U-shape, integral inflatable sacks or cushions located on the underside ofsaid piece of flexible material, and a tube connecting-said inflatable sacks or cushions.

3. A pneumatic collar pad, constructed 0f a single piece of iiexible material of inverted U-shape, the same having apertures formed in the sides, inflatable sacksl or cushions formed integral with vthe under' side of said piece of flexible material, a flexible tube connecting said inflatable sacks, and an air-valve located in one of said inflatable sacks.
