Be it known that we, CHARLES M. DILGER and HENRY BIRNBAUM, of Rapid City, in the county of Pennington and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and Improved \VindoW-Ourtain Hanger, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved window curtain hanger, which is comparatively simple and durable in construction, and arranged in such a manner as to permit of conveniently raising or lowering the hanger for the admission of light, for ventilation, and for other purposes.

The invention consists principally of a hanger frame made in sections held adjustable one on the other, and formed with bearings for the roller, the said frame being adapted to be raised or lowered on the window frame.

The invention also consists of certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter fullydescribed, and then pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to behad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The improved window curtain hanger is provided with a hanger frame A, preferably made in two sections A and A fitted to slide one on the other, and adapted to be fastened together bya suitable clamp B, as illustrated in the drawings. The section A has formed init at its inner end an elongated loop A extending longitudinally thereof and forming a slotted guide, a nd.the member A has at its inner end a ring or circular loop as clearly seen in Figs. 1 and 3. This clamp B consists of a sliding block B, held to slide on the slotted part A of the section A, and a bolt B held in the circular loop or ring on Serial No. 521,121. (No model.)

The ends of the sections A and A are formed with downwardly-extending bearings A and A in which is journaled the roller G of the curtain or shade C. By making the hanger frame A in sections adjustable one on the other, we may move the bearings A and A farther apart or nearer together according to the width of the curtain or shade.

The outer ends of the section A and A are formed into eyes or loops, on which are fastened the ends of ropes or cords D and D, of which the cord D extends upwardly and passes over a hook E, held on one side of the window frame F, to then extend longitudinally across the top of the window frame, to pass over a second hook E, over which also passes the other cord D. and D then extend downward on one side of the window frame F, to be then united by tying knots D in the said cords suitable distancesiapart. The knots are adapted to be passed under the forked end G of a cleatG secured on one side of the window frame F.

Now it will be seen that by the operator manipulating the united ends of the cords D,

For instance, as shown in Fig. 1, the shade is lowered at its upper end -a suitable distance' down from the upper part of the window frame, so that light is admitted directly through theupper sash into the room, and if the upper sash is moved downward, the room can be readily ventilated, the curtain forming no obstruction whatever for the upper portion of the window.'
