VETERINARY DEVICE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 539,428, dated May 21, 1895. Application filed December 28, 1894- Serial No. 533,165- V (N0 model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that We, EDGAR HENLEY and JOHN H. LUKEN, citizens of the United States, residing at Richmond, in the county of Wayne and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Veterinary Devices; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

Our invention relates to that class of mechanical devices used 'to prevent self abuse in animals.

Our invention consists in a mechanical device the difierent parts of which areherein described and claimed as will more fully appear.

Inthe drawings, Figure 2 represents a circular metallic frame in front elevation. Fig. 1 is a top plan view of our device, showing the circulor frame provided with a diaphragm extending over the outer portion .of its area, leaving the central portion open, the inner edge of the diaphragm being reinforced and forming a ring. Fig. 3 represents a vertical cross-section taken at was, Fig. 1, showing the diaphragm attached to the frame and the re inforced inner edge of the same forming a ring around the circular central opening.

In Fig. 2 A represents a circular metal frame or ring the rim of which is cylindrical in cross section. The frame A is constructed of a proper size to suit the purpose required.

In Fig. 1 A represents a circular metal frame and B a diaphragm composed of elastic flexible material the outer edge of which is firmly secured to the metal frame A in'its entire circumference and extending toward the center a distance equal to about one quarter of the diameter of the frame A leaving'a circular opening D the edges of which opening Dare reinforced and made of greater thickness and volume constituting a rib or ring 0 which possesses more resistance and greater contractile force than the thinner portions of the diaphragm of which it is a art.

The diaphragm B being composed of elastic and flexible material permits a lateral and partially independent motion of the frame A.

The size and form of the fraineA may be varied to conform to the different forms and demensions of the subject to be treated but the general features will remain the same.
