To all whom ima/y concern/ Be it known that I, WILLIAM FQCUNNING- HAM, of Brooklyn, iu the county of Kings andy State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Drinking-Fountains,
y of which the following is a specification.
' My invention relates to an improvement in drinking fountains in which a constant supply of fresh water is caused to present itselfy in an'inner cup and overliow into an outer cup within which the inner cup is placed.
A practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 isa View of the fountain in vertical section, taken in a plane through the longitudinal axis of the supply and overliow pipes. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section taken centrally through the fountain. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the head ofthe dischargepipe. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the spider which sustains the inner cup, and Fig, 5 is a top plan view of the bracket which sustains the service-pipe beneath the overflow-cup. i
The particular form of bracket,-or waste pipe, or conduit on which the fountain is preferably supported is a matter'of choice, as circumstances and the particular location of the fountain may determine. In the present instance, I have shown a bracket A fastened to a side wall `E and provided with an interior chamber a to receive the overflow water from the outer fountain cup, a waste pipe C leading from the chamber d to carry off the overflow to the sewer.
lThe outer cup of the fountain, denoted by D, is fitted at its lower end to an opening in the top wall of the chamber a and extends upwardly to such a height as may be desired and is preferably made of curved outline gradually increasing in diameter to the point where the inner cup is located and then curved outwardly to form a loop d.
Within the outercup D, there is located a drinking cup E of such diameter as to leave a space between it and the interior wall of the outer cup for the water to overliow and pass downwardly between it and the outer cup. At its lower end, the drinking cup E is contracted, as at e and fitted to rest upon the sition beneath theouter cup D and the drinking cup Eis held in position on the spider F by means of a hollow bolt H which serves 'also as al discharge pipe. The head h of the bolt H is fittedxto rest snugly in contact with the interior wall of the drinking cup E around the opening in itsbottom and the point h of said hollow bolt is screw threaded to engage the screw threaded hub 't' of the yoke or clip I. The yoke or clip I is provided with a circular portion, adapted to surround the service pipe G, and with winged portions t', adapted to engage the inner wall of the chamber a in proximity to the 'opening in which the outer cup D is seated. The lower end of the bolt H is preferably tapered, as shown at h2, Figs. 1 and 2, to fit the tapered wall of the opening gin the service pipe G. The head of the hollow bolt H is further preferably pro-- vided with lugs his, uprising therefrom upon opposite sides of the central opening in the bolt for purposes of screwing the bolt into the hub of the yoke or clip I.
The parts are assembled as follows: The drinking cup E having been placed in position upon the spider F within the outer cup D and the yoke or clip I having been placed around the service pipe G, with its hub 1l surrounding the opening g in the service pipe; the hollow bolt H is passed down through the bottom of'the drinking cup E, through the spider F and screwed into the' hub t' of the yoke or clip I, until its lower end seats snugly in the opening g in the service pipe G. This screwing of the bolt H will simultaneously draw the drinking cup E firmly down upon same time hold the exterior cup D'firmly to its seat on the bracket A.
That I claim is- 1. Thedrinkingfountain,eoinprisingasuitable support, an outer cup seated thereon, an inner cup supported within the outer oup, leaving an overflow space between the outer and inner cup, a service pipe, a clip or yoke in engagement with the outer oupsupport and a hollow bolt adapted to engage the said inner cup and a Clip or yoke to hold the inner cup in position, substantially as set forth.

Thedrinking fountain,eolnprsiugasuitable support, an outer cup seated thereon, an inner cup supported within the outer cup to leave an overiiow opening between it and the outer cup, a service pipe extending beneath the outer cup, a clip or yoke forming a support for the service pipe, and engaged with the outer cup support and a hollow bolt having an engagement with the inner oup and with the elip or yoke to simultaneously hold the inner cup and service pipe in position,
substantially as set forth.
