ARCH-PLATE FRAME FOR UPRIGHT PIANOS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 536,578, dated March 226, 1895.
Application filed July 24,1893. Renewed February 9, 1895. Serial No. 537,755. (No model.) Patented in Canada October ll,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN B. MITOHEL, residing at the town of Bowmanville, county of Durham, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in an Arch-Plate Frame for Upright Pianos, (for which I have received Letters Patent in the Dominion of Canada, dated October 11, 1893, No. 44,442;) and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective from the rear of same, showing the plate frame and sounding board attached, and not having the heavy wood posts usually found in upright pianos, and having a hollow chamber betweenthe sounding board and back of case which permits of a full, free and independent vibration of the sounding board. Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
The plate frame may be of any approved size or design, either straight or arched.
A represents the two arched plates of iron connected together by the iron ribs marked by the letter B.
C represents the heavy posts supporting What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The arch plates marked A and con nected together by the ribs B and sup ported at each end by the posts 0.
2. The combination of the arched plates A, ribs B, posts 0 and rail E connected to the piano plate H by the bolt K and wrest plank G substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
