ADJUSTABLE PIANO FOOT-REST.

Be it known that I, HUGO SGHREINER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Cassel, Germany, have invented an Adjustable Piano Foot-Rest, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a foot-rest intended to be used in connection with pianos.

The foot-rest is provided with an adjustable top plate and with auxiliary pedals by means of which the piano pedals can be operated.

The object of the arrangement is to provide a foot-rest which can be easily adjusted so as to enable juvenile players to operate the piano pedals from the most convenient position.

In the accompanying drawings the invention is illustrated, Figure 1 representing a front view of the arrangement partly in s-ection, and Fig. 2, a side view of the same in section on the line A-B of Fig. 1.

A casing which is closed on three sides has a loose top plate a which is guided by means of pins Z in vertical slots m in two opposite walls of the casing. Springs c, of which one is preferably provided for each corner of the casing, abut against the top plate and tend to maintain the same in its highest position. By means of wing-nuts 1L, iitted on the pins Z, the plate can be secured to the walls of the casing in a more or less elevated position.

In order to enable the player to operate the piano pedals f, which project into the casing through its open rear wall, the following arrangement is provided: Two vertical rods c are slidably guided in the plate a of the casing and are fitted on their lower ends with horizontal plates 7s with which they bear against the pedals Pivotally connected to brackets o on the top plate a, are two auxiliary pedals o. These pedals have lugs cl by means of which they are pivotally suspended on cross-heads p which are mounted by means of split, screw-threaded sleeves g on the rods c. Nuts z', iitted on the sleeves g, are adapted to contract the latter and thus secure them iirmly to the rods. A pin 77., for tightening the nut-s, may be deposited in an aperture in the top plate a as shown in Fig. 2. The nuts have radial bores for the reception of said pin.

The position of the plate having been determined, the nuts n are re-tightened whereupon the auxiliary pedals b are adjusted and secured to the rods e. The player can now comfortably operate the piano pedals f through the medium of the auxiliary pedals o.

I claim 1. A piano foot-rest comprisinga casing, a vertically adjustable top plate in said casing, springstending to maintain the plate in its highest position, means for securing the plate in adjusted position, auxiliary pedals mounted on the top plate, and adjustable connections between said pedals and the piano pedals for operating the latter.

2. A piano foot-rest comprising a casing, a vertically adjustable top plate in said casing, springs tending to maintain the plate in its highest position, means for securing the plate in adjusted position, auxiliary pedals mounted on the top plate, vertical rods slidably guided in the top plate so as to bear against the piano pedals, cross-heads adjustably mounted on said rods, and connections between said cross-heads and the auxiliary pedals so that a depression causes a simultaneous depression of the rods and of the piano pedals.

A piano foot-rest comprising a casing, a top plate vertically adjustable therein, springs tending to maintain the plate in its highest position, means for securing the plate in adjusted position,'auxiliary pedals mounted on the top plate, vertical rods slidably guided in the top plate so as to bear against the piano pedals, cross-heads adjustably fitted on the rods by means of split, screw-threaded sleeves, nuts on said sleeves for clamping the same to the rods in adjusted position, and connections between said cross-heads and the auxiliary pedals so that a depression of the latter causes a simultaneous depression of the rods and of the piano pedals.
