COMBINED ANVI'L VISE, AND DRILLING MACHINE.
No. 536,219. v PatentedMar. 26, 1895.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUELB. .MEYERS, OF MILESBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINED ANVIL, VISE, AND DRILLING-MACHINE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 536,219, dated March 26, 1895.-
- Application filed December 19,1894. Serial 110.532.3251. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL B. MEYERS, a
citizen of the United States, residing-at Milesburg, in the county of Centre and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Machine, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in a combined anvil-vise and drilling machine as the accompanying drawings will explain.
Figure 1, is a side view of the machine complete; Fig. 2, end view of anvil; Fig. 3, end view of vise jaw; Fig. 4, end view of hand wheel; Fig. 5, end view. of crank.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
, In Fig. 1, A is aside view of anvil; B, side view of T slide; 0, side view of vise jaw; D, vise screw; E and E, cog wheels; F, crank; G, hand wheel; H, lug on vise jaw; I, drill spindle; j, hardy.
In Fig. 2, A is an end view of anvil; E, cog wheels; K, hub on cog wheel to receive the crank; B, end view of T slide.
In Fig. 3, C is an end of vise jaw; H, lug on vise jaw; B, T slide. V
In Fig. 4, G is an end of hand wheel.
In Fig. 5, F is an end view of crank.
The anvil and T slide way is in one cast- I ing. The vise screw is used, both for vise and drilling machines. The driving wheel E, on
vise screw works loose, having a hub thereon to receive the crank. By this arrangement the drill can run without moving the screw. The hand wheel G, on end of screw is used to feed vise jaw up to drill. The crank has two holes in it, one square, one to turn screw, and the other round to fit on hub of cog wheel.
I am aware that prior to my invention the combination has been made, but differently constructed. I therefore do not claim a combination broadly but What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isf A combined anvil, visa and drilling machine, comprising the anvil and integral T- shaped slideway, screwshaft D, squared at one end, andfhaving wheel G, at the other end, the drill spindle, both said shaft and spindle, having a bearing in the anvil, pinions E and E, upon the ends of said spindle and shaft respectively, pinion E loose upon its shaft and having hub K, thereon, vise jaw C, slidable upon the slideway and having lug H, through which shaftD extends, and crank F having apertures fitting shaft D, and hub K, whereby the vise and drill may be operated separately substantially as described.
SAM L. B. MEYE'RS.
