CORSET STAY.
N0. 533,089. Patented Jan. 29, 1895.
UNITED STATES PATENT CEFICE. v
CARL SCHOLL, OF GOEPPINGEN, GERMANY.
CORSET-STAY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters 'atent No. 533,0'89, dated J' anuary 29, 1895. Application filed March 6, 1894.. Serial No. 502,500. (O model.) Patented in France June 24, 1893, No. 233,011.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, CARL SCHOLL, a subject of the King of Wrtemberg, residing in Goeppingen, Wrtemberg, German Empire, have invented a new and useful Corset Stay Y or Stiifener, (for which I have obtained a patent in France, No. 233,011, dated J une 24, 1893,) of which the following is a specification.
The object of my present invention Yis to provide corset stays or stiffeners of simple and durable construction and especially applicable to the corset steels covered by my United States Patent No. 514,242, dated February 6, 1894.
The invention consists in the improved corset stays or stiffeners and in the combination and arrangements of the various parts thereof, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. r
In the drawings Figure 1 represents a pair of my improved corset stays or stitfeners; Fig. 2, a modified form thereof, 'and Figs. 3 and 4 are sectional views on the lines :1J-w of Fig. 1 and y-y of Fig. 2, respectively.
In said drawings a, a represent two corset steels provided at each end with caps b and b respectively (the lower ends not being shown). About midway between the ends of each corset steel and integral therewith is arranged a fiat or round wire spiral o (c) to allow a certain give to the steel. Interposed between the corrugations of the corset steel a is a wire (in whole orin sections) d provided at certain intervals with loops e adapted to be engaged by the hooked portions e of wire d interposed between the corrugations of the corset steel a.
In the modied form shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the wire a is provided at certain intervals with projecting loops integral with the cor- .rugations forming the corset steel, and are adapted to be engaged by the pins or heads h secured to a metal strip g arranged in any desired manner on the corrugations vof the corset steel a.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, a corset stilfener consisting of two corrugated portions aud of a wire spiral uniting said two portions and arranged at right angles to the center line of the corset steel, substantially as and for the purposes described.
In testimony whereof I have signed Athis specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CARL SCHOLL. Witnesses:
AUGUST B. DRANTZ, ARTHUR HOEMANN.
