SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 531,068, dated December 18, 1894. application filed March 26,1894. as No. 505,127. (No model.)
To all whom .it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUST HENRY SCHIER- How, of San Francisco, in the countyof' San Francisco and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Ore-Crusher, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact The invention relates-to orecrushers, such as shownand described in the application for Letters Patent of the United States, Serial No. 494,512, filed by me December 23, 1893.
The object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved ore crusher, in

The invention consists of certain parts and details, and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.

The improved ore crusher is provided with a circular pan A, having inclined sides, a feed spout A and a discharge spout A. for carrying off the crushed material; The pan Ais supported on a suitable foundation B, and in the sides of the said pan are openings covered byscreensA discharging into the drawings.
In the bottom of the pan A is arranged a circular die (J, on which travel the crushing rolls D,'adapted to crush the material placed on the said die 0. The crushing rolls are either fastened on the axles E, as illustrated inFigs. 1', 2 and 3, or are mounted to rotate loosely on the axles E, as illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7. Each axle E is journaled in the bearings F and G, of which the bearing F is located near the respective roll D, and is mounted to slidevertically in suitable guideways in a frame or table H, secured on the driving shaft Idisposed vertically and mounted to turn in suitable bearings in the machine. The other bearing G is provided with trunnions 1G, mounted to turn in suitable bearings in' the frame or table H, as is plainly shown in Fig. 4, so that the roll D can move up or down according to the amount of mais constructed in such a manner as to receive annular shoulders formed on the corresponding axle E, whereby all end thrust of the axle E is taken up by the corresponding bearing G.
As illustrated in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the driv ing shaft I, is connected by gear wheels with the main shaft J, carrying pulleys connected by abelt with other suitable machinery for imparting a rotary motion to the said main shaft J. The latter transmits its motion to the vertical drive shaft I carrying the frame H, so that the latter in revolving with its shaft I, carries around the axle E, so that the rolls D roll off on the die 0, and thereby crush the material placed on the latter.

As previously mentioned, the roll D is mounted to rotate loosely on this axle E, so that the latter does not require turning except to be carried around with the frame H held on the shaft 1.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- 1. In an ore crusher, the combination with a pan, and a vertical and rotary shaft, of a frame secured to the upper end of the said shaft, a vertically sliding hearing at each end of the frame, a trunnion mounted at each end of said frame, the trunnion at one end of the frame being opposite the sliding bearing at the opposite end of the frame, parallel shafts mounted in the said bearings and trunnions, i
and a crushing roller on one end of each shaft, substantially as described.
2. An ore crusher, comprising a ring-shaped pan provided with screen covered openings, a central vertical and rotary shaft projecting above the pan, a frame secured to the upper end of the shaft, a vertically sliding and a pivoted bearing at each end of the frame, the sliding bearings being opposite the pivoted bearings, parallel shafts mounted in the said bearings, a crushing roller on one end of each shaft, and a scraper secured to the frame and projecting into the pan, substantially as described.
3. An ore crusher, comprising a ring-shaped pan provided with screen covered openings, a vertical and rotary shaft, a tank supported on the upper end of the shaft, a pipe leading from the tank to the pan, a frame secured to the said shaft below the tank, a vertically sliding and pivoted bearing at each end of the frame, two parallel shafts mounted in the said bearings, a crushing roller on one end of each shaft, and a scraper secured to the frame and projecting into the pan, substantially as herein shown and described.
