DRAFT-EQUALIZER.

SIPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 529,294, dated November 13, 1894.

Be it known that I, ANGUS MCDONALD, a itizen of the United States of America, relding at Quincy, in the county of Adams and tate of Illinois, have invented certain new nd useful Improveinentsin Draft-Equalizers, E which the following is a specification, refrence being had therein to the accompanyig drawings.

This invention relates to certain new and seful improvements in draft equalizers.

The object is to provide a novel construcion in a device of this class that shall posess advantages in point of simplicity, dura 'ility, inexpensiveness and general efficiency.

With these and other objects in view, vaious combinations and arrangements of parts re employed which will be hereinafter fully et forth and specifically pointed out in the vnnexed claim.

In describing the invention in detail, refrence is had to the accompanying drawings. vhich form part of this specification and vherein like letters indicate corresponding arts in both views, in which- Figure 1, is a plan view of my improved qualizer and Fig. 2, is a sectional view thereof.

In the drawings A indicates the sin- ;le-tree, -B the main clip and -=-O the took, all connected by a single pivotal bolt a". In this instance I employ a main clip formed in two parts and hinged together as at b". Thus, when it is desired to substitute another tree for that shown, the nut of the pivotal bolt may be removed, the upper half of the clip thrown forwardly as indicated by the direction-arrow and the tree or pulley removed, as will be obvious.

The advantages of this construction lie in its simplicity, ease of adjustment and comparative cheapness.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to obtain by Letters Patent, is

In a draft equalizer, the combination with a cross tree, of a main clip formed in sections and hinged together with its free ends extending rearwardly, an equalizer pulley mounted between said hinged sections of the clip, of a supplemental clip extending rearwardly and a hook attached thereto and a bolt passing through the coincident openings of the free ends of said clips and the cross tree as and for the purpose specified.
