j NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL HAMANN, OF REINBEOK, GERMANY.
DRIVING-GEAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 527,552, dated October 16, 1894. Application filed June 8, 1894, Serial No. 513,914. (No model.)
To @all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL HAMANN, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Reinbeck, Prussia, Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Driving-Gears, of which the following is a specification. l
Figures 1 and 2 are side views of two differently proportioned examples of, my invention. Fig. 3 is a plan view corresponding with Fig. 2.
This gearing is adapted for the transmis sion of great power and comprises a rotarily j ournaled wheel or disk a, having in each side near its periphery rollers r fr turning on gudgeons t' t', those 'r on the one side standing in an intermediate position to those fr on the other side. The gearing further comprises a double tappet turning in a single shaft m, the two tappets being spirally shaped and situated one on each side of the wheel a so as to come in contact with the rollersof the respective wheel sides, as is shown in the accompanying drawings. The shapes of the tappets are` such that as soon as the one of them (b) leaves the roller r, which it has driven forward, the
other o on the other side of the wheel, comes into contact with a roller fr", and drives the latter forward, whereupon the first tappet v again comes into contact with a roller r, and 3o so on. There must in any case'be an absolutely uniform movement of the wheel a.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A gearing consisting 'of a rotarily journaled Wheel a provided on opposite sides near the periphery with rollers rr turning on gudgeons t' fi', those on the one side having positions alternating with those on the other side, and two tappets h b having a common axle m, the said tapp'ets being spirally shaped and arranged at opposite sides of the wheel to operate successively on the rollers r 'r' on each side thereof, substantially as herein set for th.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses. v
CARL I-IAMANN.
