Specification forming parl of Letters Patent No. 52,587, dated February 13, 1866.

My invention relates to the production of a Y.new article ot' manufacture, the saine being an improved device for sharpening knives, and consisting' in the use oftwo steel or other hardnietal rolls, which are threadedas screw-s and mounted in a. suitable frame in a position to bring the sharp ed ge of the thread on one rollA between the threads of the other roll, by which I produce a neat, handy,.and eieient article torthe'purpose for which il; is intended.

The device is-to hel used hy drawing` .the knife between the rolls in the direction ottheir length, as shown in Fi. 1, which gives to the knife in avery short time a good cutting-edge.-
