BEER-GLASS COUNTER OR GAME-REGISTER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 524,214, dated August '7, 1894.

To .all whom it muy concern:

Be it known that Awe, BRUNO QUIETZSCH and CARL ROBERT GLASS, subjects of the King of Saxony, residing at Chemnitz, in the lingdom of Saxony, German Empire, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Beer Glass Counter or Game Register, of which the following is a t'ull,clear, and exact description.

The presentinvention consists of a device for registering the number of glasses of beer placed successively on the tray or saucer used 1n restaurants, and the apparatus is designed to prevent mistakes occurring as to the number of glasses which may have been retailed to the respective parties.

h e device consists of a plate arranged on the .side of the said tray or saucer, said plate having an oriiice through which the numbers denoting the various glasses of beer or other refreshment served, are successively visible, the disk being rotated by applying pressure to a button at the top; whereby thel same is caused to move one number farther.

In order to make this specification more easily intelligible reference is had to the accompanying drawings in which similar letters d enote similar parts throughout the several views.

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the tray or Saucer with our device applied thereto; Fig. 2 a plan of Fig. l; Fig. 3 an elevation of the device in detail with the front plate and disk removed and Fig. 4 a cross section on line ce b in Fig. 3.

g is the casing attached in any suitable manner to the tray or saucer, and having the front platee with orifice e. Centrally in this casing is mounted a spindle 71, having keyed thereon by means of a screw p the rotary dlsk f with figures (1 to 10 are shown in the drawings) which as the disk revolves appear successively at the orifice e of the plate e. One end of the spindle h is advantageously mounted in the back plate of the casing g the opposite end being carried by a bearing piece f2 screwed or otherwise secured to the said back plate (Fig. 4). Besides the disk f is also keyed to the spindle 7L a ratchet wheel d which in the casing g. A spring d engages in the ratchet wheel and prevents the backward rotation of the same. The ratchet wheel d is further provided with a pin n or other stop, designed to contact with a horizontally sliding boltZ when the last figure of the disk has appeared at the orifice e of the plate c and thus prevent the disk from rotating further after it has completed one revolution. Said bolt is normally held in its forward position-11e. inthe path of the pin n-by means of a spring Z', and before the disk can cornmence to register' from l to l0 again', the bolt must be withdrawn by means of a key such as m (Fig. 3) which may be inserted at the side of the casing and engaging in a notch on the top of the bolt cause the same to withdraw and thus release the disk for further registry.

The apparatus works in the following mannerz-Vhen a glass of beer is placed upon the mat, tray or saucer, the consumer need only depress the button c which causes the number l to appear at the orifice e', on receiving a second glass the button must be again depressed and number 2 will appear. In this manner the number of glasses served may be accurately and reliably registered, as the consumer cannot tamper with the apparatus unless he possesses a key to the same, otherwise the disk will show up to number 9 and then stop.
