BOTTLE-STOPPER.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL MARIE THEO- DORE IMBAUD, proprietor, a citizen of the French Republic, residing in Ambares, (Gironde.) France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoppers for Bottles, (for which I obtained a patent in France December17,1892,No.226,457; in Belgium June 14, 1893, No. 105,090; in Great Britain June 17,1893,No.11,968, and in Italy June 30, 1893, No. 34,279,) of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in stoppers for bottles containing effervescent or still liquids, and its object is to provide a convenient means for permitting the withdrawal of liquid from time to time without allowing the escape of gas or evaporation of liquid at such times as the liquid is not being withdrawn. I attain these objects by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a sectional elevation showing the general construction of my improved stopper; Fig. 2 being a plan of the same, and Fig. 3 a back elevation.

The body of the stopper consists of a hollow tube E at the lower part, to be inserted in the neck of the bottle, and a hollow rubber plug B thereon for adapting it to various sizes of necks of bottles. On the interior of this plug are formed annular grooves e of increasing sizes to facilitate compression and insure the soundness of the joint. The tube E is provided at its upper extremity with a shoulder a which abuts against the top of the india-rubber plug. Above the tube the body of the stopper is formed in two parts A A, screwed or otherwise joined together, the upper portion being furnished with a beak or mouth-piece h for the outlet of the liquid, and through which extends the rod T provided with a button ton its upper end, and with a valve 15 at its lower end, arranged to be operated by means of a spiral spring r as shown. I claim as my invention- 1. A stopper for bottles consisting of a tube to enter the neck of the bottle, a body above the tube, provided with a valve adapted to be opened from the outside, an outlet above the valve, the said body being also provided on the outside with a stud on one side and a hook on the other, the said stud and hook adapted to engage with the wires, which have served to fasten the cork .for transporsubstantially as set forth.
2. A stopper for bottles consisting of a tube to enter the neck of the bottle, a body above the tube, an external shoulder being formed between the body andthe tube, a hollow ruliber plug provided with internal annular said shoulder, the said body being provided with a spring-actuated stem-valve adapted to be opened from the outside, an outlet above the valve, and a stud and a hook on opposite sides of the body as and for the pur poses set forth.
3. Astopper for bottles consisting of a tube to enter the neck of the bottle, a hollow rubtube provided with a spring-actuated stemvalve, a beaked outlet above the valve and a stud and hook on opposite sides of thebody, the said stem valve being provided with an operating button, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
