SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 519,733, dated May 15, 1894.

Be it known that I, THOMAS O. PAYNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Vicksburg, in the county of Warren and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fire-Blowers; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art towhich it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked phereon, which form a part of this specifica- My invention relates to improvements in fire blowers, and it has for its object the provision of a blower that can be made to fit different size fire places, and that can be adj usted to dilferent heights therein. T0 attain these objects I provide the body of the blower with a removable rim that is secured to the body so as to be flexible, and the body of the blower is provided with an adjustable bracket by means of which the blower can be made to stand at different heights upon the grate before which it is placed. The invention further consists in the novel construction and arrangement of the parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

tral portion of the blower is a slot J, into which is set a set screw K, which passes through and is secured to the inside of the blower to a lug or bracket L, as shown. The ing and screw are adjusted vertically in the slot J, as is evident. Around the body F of the blower is an adjustable rim E secured to the body of the blower so as to be flexible. This rim is secured to the body of the blower by separable hinges on, m, m, or in any other suitable manner that will allow the detaching of the rim E from the body F of the blower, or its free adjustment to the fire place. On the upper portion of said blower and also of said rim, on the inside thereof, is a catch or bracket 2', 2', for helping to hold the said blower to the fire place. When a small blower is needed or is necessary the rim E can be removed, by slipping the hinges h, h, h, as is evident.

Having thus described my blower, I claim 1. In a fire blower of the character described the combination of a body F, provided with means for adjusting the blower vertically, with a removable rim secured to the body, as set forth.

2. In a fire blower of the character described the combination of a body F, a slot J and a thumb screw and bracket adjustably secured in said slot for adjusting the blower vertically, and a removable rim secured to the said blower by hinges or otherwise, as set forth.
