JASPER K. FIsHER, oF LOWELL, MICHIGAN.
KNocKbowN CUTTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 517,855, dated April 10, 1894.
Application tiled May 20, 1893.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JASPER K. FISHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lowell, in thecounty of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Knockdown Cutters; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improved knock- Like letters refer to like parts in all of the.'
figures.
A is the box or body; B the runners; C the beams; D the knees; and E the fenders; all of the usual form. The tenons D of the knees instead of being inserted in mortises in the beams as usual, are inserted in suitable metal sockets G, which are detachably secured to said beams by bolts I, passing through iianges G at the sides of the sockets and integral therewith which bolts also pass through the bottom of the body A, and thus simultaneously secure said body and sockets to the beams.
Secured to the dash board A', by bolts or rivet-s H is a metal plate F, which prolongs the line of the runner iron B, and said plate sennno.'474,a6s. (Nomads.)
and iron at their adjacent ends overlap and are tapered as shown in Fig, 2, and a bolt H may be inserted to bind them together, but the latter is not essential. Integral with said plate F and projecting from one side thereof at a suitable angle is a tubular socket F', to receive and secure the end ol" the fender E, and at each side of the runner is a flange F F", also integral with said plate. f
By detaching the sockets G from the beams, and removing the bolts H (if used), the runners and knees may be detached from the body, beams, and fenders, thus greatly reducing the room required for shipment or storage of the article.
What I claim is- The herein-described knockdown cutter,
consisting of the body, having its dash provided with plates each of which has anges and a'socket at the side of said anges, the runner irons, tapered at their upper ends and having said tapered ends received between and engaging the flanges of said plates, and removable therefrom, the fenders, lhaving their upper ends removably inserted within the sockets of said plates and encircled thereby, sockets, G, having flanges, bolts, passing through said flanges and removably securing said sockets tothe cutter-body, and knees, secured at their lower ends to the runner irons and having their upper ends inserted within said sockets G, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
.I 'AsPER K. FISHER.
