Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
Referring to the drawingsi=-A designates two hollowcheek pieces orclamps, whose inner sides conform to the shape of the upper faces of the flanges, and the sides of the webs and'heads of the rails B and C, so as to embrace the same.
D designates the bases of said cheek pieces which project inwardly from the lower ends of said pieces, and are adapted to have the Interposed be-\ I heads of the rails B and V C, said filling piece having a depending stem F which occupies a position between the inner ends of the flanges, and has ah opening Gor slot H thereit being noticed that said bolt passes horizonin for the passage therethrough of the bolt J,
tally through the bases D, and isprovided with a nut K, whereby when said nut is tightened, it is evident that the cheek pieces and filling piece are firmly clamped against the rails, and said rails firmly connected and a main and a guard rail afilling piece in contact with the head, web and flanges of the rails and having a depending flange, and a bolt passing through said check pieces and depending flange, said parts being combined substantially as described.
